The State Energy Regulatory Council (VERT) approved the UAB Visagino energija investment project: the construction of a cogeneration plant in the district heating network system.
The total value of the project is 7.5 million. EUR, VERT coordinated the investment part for heat production activities: 2.11 million. Eur. 45 percent The funds required for the implementation of the project are expected to be financed with the support of the EU structural funds.
UAB Visagino Energija plans to build a cogeneration power plant with a thermal capacity of 6 MW and an electrical capacity of 1.25 MW. Once in operation, the amount of heat supplied to DHs from biofuels will increase by 71%. up to 75%, consequently, less natural gas will be used, which, according to preliminary calculations, will reduce the price of heat to consumers by 0.090 ct / kWh.
Construction of the cogeneration plant is expected to be completed in 2021. The power plant will begin operating in pilot mode from the start of the 2021 heating season, and regularly from 2022.
