Valinsk: The coalition is now such that you will not knock on the door

A. Valinskas, who met with Seimas President Viktorija Čmilyte-Nielsen on Monday, stated that it is planned to resume the meetings of former Seimas spokespersons started by Viktoras Pranckietis.

“We discussed that as soon as the health situation allows, the format will probably be updated. We hope this spring,” A. Valinskas, who chaired the Seimas in 2008-2009, told reporters after the meeting at the Seimas.

The President and Prime Minister are invited to share their participation in EVS meetings

When asked how he valued the ongoing discussions on the representation of the state in the EVS, A. Valinskas said that the government must agree with each other and not “show that I know everything”.

“It seems to me that it would be better in this place if the high officials agreed. When there is a meeting on domestic and health issues, it is the prime minister, and when it comes to foreign policy, it is shared and sustained by the president. In this place, it would be necessary to make a human agreement by sitting down, and not holding an excavated hatchet and showing that I know everything and have seen Lenin alive ”, emphasized the former spokesperson of the Seimas.

Čmilytei-Nielsen did not share the advice, but offered the rulers to seek compromises.

A. Valinskas served as president of the Seimas under conditions similar to V. Čmilytė-Nielsen now, when the Conservatives and Liberals were in power. The ruling coalition consisted of the Union National-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), various liberal factions, and the Resurrection Party.

When asked if he had given V. Čmilyte-Nielsen any advice on how to work with conservatives, A. Valinskas jokingly replied that he needed no advice.

However, he stressed that during his time in the Seimas the ruling majority was greater, so the current coalition has to seek compromises.

“There were 85 of us, so the partial withdrawal of one or another faction would practically not destroy it, except for the Resurrection of the Nation Party, which had 18 people (…). The current one has 73 votes: the withdrawal of any faction is practically a guaranteed collapse of the coalition. Everyone is aware that here you will not knock on the door, you will not say that you will leave, because any faction, even if the liberals, who say they are leaving, will go to nothing, to the opposition, where they will. sit for the remaining three years. It is in everyone’s interest to work during those four years, during which they signed a coalition agreement, ”said A. Valinskas.

According to him, disagreements in the coalition will not be avoided, but nevertheless, said A. Valinskas, it is necessary to find a consensus.

“It is very strange that this Seimas has not yet resolved the problem with the judges of the Constitutional Court; this shows not only a lack of respect for the legal system, but also the lack of scope of some members of the Seimas in the situation.” Everyone must find a compromise here, because the Conservatives, who are number 55, are well aware that no important decision can be made in the Seimas without the support of any other faction. They need to agree, “said A. Valinskas.

Commenting on the activities of the current opposition, he said that the opposition has not yet had a chance to express itself.

“There is no opposition at all, they don’t even have an opposition leader and so on. In addition, these works will only be clarified in the spring, after the March 10 session, when the session will begin, because the elections are already over, the budget had to be approved immediately and everyone was divided, with no meetings. There was not even a place for the opposition to appear, and what it will look like, we will see in the spring, ”said A. Valinskas.

He appreciated the ambitious goal of the presidency and the policy pursued by Nausėda

Having eloquently described former President Dalia Grybauskaitė, A. Valinskas did not skimp on the epithet of the current head of the country, Gitan Nausėda.

According to him, despite the history, he considers that D. Grybauskaitė is more acceptable to the president.

“I can only repeat that for ten years, there is a saying like that, we had a ‘bob’ with eggs, and now we will have at least five men without them. In this place, however, for me, to all the sympathies-antipathies, but Dalia Grybauskaitė is a more acceptable option for Lithuania ”, A. Valinskas repeated the thought expressed above.

When asked how he valued the different vaccination plans announced by the presidency and the Ministry of Health, A. Valinskas said that it damages public confidence in the government.

“The left doesn’t know what the right is doing and talks about completely different things. The more so since the presidency, with those races, who announces first, who promises more, is actually doing more damage. Health is not an area in which you can compete to report more good news. On the other hand, the biggest problem is that initially, the president was told where the president was doing nothing and suddenly a new coalition arrived, and the president realized what he would do, ”said the former president of Seimas.

According to A. Valinskas, the government should coordinate positions among themselves.

“Sometimes when I ask about the presidential speeches on deadlines, vaccinations, I want to tell you: I’m probably not a doctor, I’m not a specialist, I’m good, keep quiet and pass it on normally, meeting with the Prime Minister, Minister Dulkis , all the other specialists who will be responsible. Then announce the message to the public, and now you have plans to vaccinate everyone before Mindauginiai: that information hung in the clouds, the lamp. Socialist races that will report more good news do not lead to good ”Emphasized A. Valinskas.

Valinskas: Lithuania is now in the hands of women

In evaluating the current Seimas spokesperson V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, A. Valinskas declared that she is perfectly fulfilling her duties. According to him, V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, even if he is not delegated by the largest ruling faction, he can talk to everyone.

“I closely monitor and support what he does and how he does it. I bow my naked head against his skills and diplomacy. We also talked about the fact that it is much better to be the Speaker of the Seimas, who is delegated by the great faction, because when you have a faction that is in coalition but has 10, 15 people, it is not the decisive thing. Vote and then you just have to speak. He certainly won’t take it away from the current Speaker of the Seimas. Of those three leaders, I believe that women now have Lithuania on their shoulders; I mean the president of Seimas and the prime minister, ”said A. Valinskas.

After visiting the office of the Seimas Spokesperson, A. Valinskas also said that he did not feel any homesick.

“No, I looked around me, everything is the same, there are only four paintings hanging. Definitely no, no, no. One member of the Seimas de Valinskas is enough, the others have already fulfilled their duty to the homeland”, added A. Valinskas jokingly.
