The outgoing Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania (LAC), Vitas Vasiliauskas, will be part of the Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he will represent the Nordic and Baltic countries.
Eight central banks have jointly decided to delegate their position.
V Vasiliauskas will begin his three-year term at the IMF in 2023. In January, at the end of the term of Finnish representative Mika Poso, he will become the first Baltic ali representative on the foundation’s board, reports LB.
According to the agreement between the Nordic and Baltic countries, the positions of the executive director of your pool of candidates can be rotated.
The agreement also stipulates that the three Baltic states, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, have the right to appoint only representatives. V. Vasiliauskas was selected by consensus among five candidates after evaluating the accumulated experience and taking into account the evaluations of the international executive search company.
Its mission and responsibilities will be to ensure that the interests of the parties and the agreed positions of group members are better represented in IMF decisions.
The Nordic and Baltic countries are made up of countries in the region: Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
