“Obviously, this requirement is difficult to implement, and if it cannot be implemented correctly, it loses its meaning. If only the Passport of Opportunity is required, but no identity document is required, then, in principle, all those who want it can enter supermarkets, that’s what’s happening.
Supermarkets and people are forced to pretend they are following the government’s instructions. The authorities intend to be successful in the fight against the pandemic. A performance of the absurd caused by an absurd demand ”, says V. Blinkevičiūtė.
The Social Democratic leader believes that such excess requirements should be removed, and an increase in the flow of shoppers in smaller stores will in no way reduce the number of infections.
“It just came to our attention then. An ordinary experiment that causes a lot of inconvenience and the result is not clear because it is difficult to evaluate. I think we should abandon the requirement and leave a recommendation: if the stores want to verify the Passports of Opportunity, they can do it. correctly, let them verify. Let them decide for themselves, “says V. Blinkevičiūtė.
She agrees that similar passports exist in many European Union countries. The only question is what is their purpose and how are they used.
“I see great meaning in the application of the Passport of Opportunity, especially in closed places for entertainment, entertainment and leisure, but not in stores”, is convinced V. Blinkevičiūtė.
Social Democrats have previously argued that the government should clearly define the legal limits of the Passport of Opportunities, the conditions and areas of its application, as well as its objectives.
According to the Social Democrats, all this must be reflected in the laws that regulate the spread of communicable diseases and the management of emergencies, civil and labor security.
Where there are large concentrations of people, Social Democrats believe that testing centers should work. Ventilation of the premises, masks, distances, compliance with hygiene requirements – all this seems unquestionable for the partners.
