“I had the opportunity today to choose, in my opinion, the best candidates who would best represent the welfare of the people and the security of the state,” V. Adamkus told reporters.
When asked whether he voted for stability or for change, the outgoing president replied: “For stability, because, in my opinion, it is necessary at a time when Lithuania faces many important internal problems.”

“But of course external problems, especially for our eastern neighbors, cannot be avoided,” he added.
V. Adamkus said that he expected from the future Seimas “a more sincere work to take care of the well-being of people, not personal matters.”
This is not the first time that the former head of state has come to vote alone.
According to him, Alma Adamkienė voted at home this time on his state of health. Last fall, A. Adamkienė suffered a stroke.
“There is nothing critical, but yesterday he voted for holy peace,” Adamkus said.
Seventeen parties present themselves to the elections of the Seimas.
