As reported at the Santara Clinic on Friday, among the first 75 adults aged 80 and over were vaccinated.

“I am glad that we have the opportunity to care for the Lithuanian people. The specialists are so skilled and do their job so well that no one should be hurt,” Adamkus said in the report.

Another 216 older adults were vaccinated at the Santara clinics on Friday and vaccination will continue on Saturday.

If you have received a call, we invite you to come and get vaccinated. The specified times must be strictly adhered to to avoid unnecessary meetings.

Aušra Marcijonienė, Head of the Department of Internal Diagnosis of the Santara Clinics, invites all older people to get vaccinated.

“If you have received a call, we invite you to get vaccinated. You will be given the date, time and place of arrival. The specified times must be strictly adhered to to avoid unnecessary meetings,” the doctor said in the report.

“Each visitor must complete a questionnaire – some questions about the state of health: if they do not have a viral disease, do not have a temperature or have not had allergic reactions before. The puncture is painless, you have to stay in the institution facilities for 15 minutes after the injection so that the doctors make sure that the vaccinated person has not had unexpected reactions, such as allergic reactions, ”he said.

According to the doctor, after the second vaccination, local reactions to the vaccine are a little more common: swelling, pain, but the temperature can also rise, so it is recommended to take paracetamol at home.

“If the patient develops very disturbing symptoms, he should see his GP,” said Aušra Marcijonienė.

Lithuania does not have a separate vaccination procedure for current or former leaders of the country.

People are vaccinated according to the order of priority established by Health Minister Arūnas Dulkis, according to which the first to be vaccinated are doctors who work with coronavirus patients.

Later, vaccinations were started for patients, hospital volunteers, other medical staff, workers and social care rooms, teachers, Olympians and now older people are also being vaccinated.

Currently, COVID-19 is being vaccinated in the country with vaccines manufactured by BioNTech and Pfizer, as well as Moderna and AstraZeneca.
