“The goal of all of us is to stop the epidemic as soon as possible, so that nations and humanity have the lowest possible losses, and in Lithuania every possible effort is being made to make this happen.

“I wish you all success, and at the same time I am grateful to our doctors, who really work tirelessly with great dedication, and at the same time I thank all the helpers who come to their aid,” the president said Thursday.

When asked about the health of his wife Alma, V. Adamkus admitted that her well-being is not the best, but avoids public gatherings so as not to get sick.

“It just came to our knowledge then.” That climate does not contribute, and she is very careful, she is afraid to participate in some larger place so as not to catch it, “said the president.

The Adam Adam Hall at the Center for Eastern European Studies (RESC) opened on Thursday. Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė also attended the inauguration.

“I think it is not so important to have a place, an important event, in my opinion, for the whole society, that is, the attitude of the Lithuanian community towards its neighbors and our mission in Eastern Europe. <...> Our joint efforts must be adjusted and directed in a direction that leads us on the path of rapprochement, but not of separation. That’s what I want, ”said V. Adamkus.
