Speeches can cost lives
After contacting MP TV Raskevičius, he did not hide his comments on the latest comments from V. Uspaskich.
“I am very disappointed by such comments from the esteemed Viktor Uspaskich. He is not just an individual, he is a state politician, a Member of the European Parliament who, ironically, also belongs to the ALDE group, that is to say, to the liberals.
I have no idea how such rhetoric, which absolutely denies human rights discourse and disparages members of the LGBT community living in Lithuania, can be reconciled with such political dependence on the respected Victor, ”says TV Raskevičius.
Seimas member V. Uspaskich calls it homophobic rhetoric and says it is intertwined with liars. TV Raskevičius wants the MEP to say goodbye.
TV Raskevičius is of the opinion that politicians are a kind of opinion formers, their speeches in society are widely heard, but when it comes to the LGBT community, rhetoric must be monitored. Irresponsible words can cost lives.
“Homophobia is a problem in Lithuania, it affects various age groups, including young people. Juknevičienė: these are propaganda narratives
Ms Uspaskich’s statements are also not clear to MEPs. According to Rasa Juknevičienė, MEP, representative of the Lithuanian Christian National-Democratic Union (TS-LKD), V. Uspaskich’s rhetoric is reminiscent of Kremlin propaganda.

The MEP says that entering Russian-controlled sources of information could lead to arguments very similar to those of Uspaskich.
According to R. Juknevičienė, the LGBT community is also one of the targets of the Kremlin’s propaganda. Homophobic statements are being used to discredit the European Union.
“The old Kremlin ax is aimed at all of Europe. This community is taken as a tool to lead people against the European Union. This is completely out of line with his political group that he works for in the European Parliament. This political group is very tolerant, ”says R. Juknevičienė.
Auštrevičius: „Victor lost the opportunity to shut up“
The liberal Petras Auštrevičius works with V. Uspaskich in the same faction in the European Parliament of Renew Europe. Nor does he understand what his colleagues say.
