The Kaunas resident has been working as a rescue commander for 14 years. During this period, he had to find himself in a variety of situations, but not all of them stagnated, as the incident recalled about 6-8 years ago.

At that time, Jonas was patrolling the jet ski and received a message that a boy was drowning near the Palanga Bridge.

“That boy was between 12 and 13 years old, he had high, black, curly hair. I managed to grab him with a jet ski in my hand. I gave it to my mother and said:” Lady, don’t go … ” There was still a red flag, bathing was strictly prohibited. Mom was very apologetic, she says I understand, she didn’t ask me. I told her not to go far, “says the rescuer.

I gave this boy, I say, I gave him, how did that happen?

“Well and whatever, I left the boy, I wished me a good day and before I could get to the central rescue station I received a message saying that I was drowning on the bridge again. The boy is drowning. Suddenly I turn around: the same mother is standing and waving to the shore, and that’s all. We searched and after three or four hours they threw the boy into the Ronžė stream, he was already drowned. These are situations … just fate.

I gave this boy, I say, I gave him, how did that happen? “We had to go, I told him to wash the sand …” It has been a very long story for me here for a long time … I can remember everything down to the smallest detail, how sensitive it was and I cannot blame any mother. .. There is a destination, “he recalls. J.Pirožnikas after spending several more children bathing in the Baltic Sea without careful supervision.

When we started our journey, the rescuer stopped next to the children, turned on the sirens and asked through the loudspeaker where their parents were. Instead of telling them, the children fled, so John suddenly had to turn his “Polar” around and get closer to the family.

– Your children? The savior asked. – Why are you acting irresponsible, why leave alone in the water? For children under 14 years old. bathing, being in the water is strictly prohibited. How old is that boy?

“Nine,” responds mom.

– nine? Up to fourteen … (…) Be careful, “urges John and addresses the children. – And you children, do you understand?

These bowed their heads. It remains to be expected sincerely.

“This (unattended children’s bathroom, – ed.) Is very dangerous. It even has emotions that the next time you talk to parents who don’t understand, it says why you’re yelling at us. I don’t cry, I want you to listen to me,” says the lifeguard, noting that changing ocean currents are a hazard.

John says some parents accept the rescuers’ comments, and some see them as personal criticism.

“There are also aggressive parents who can curse you for saying that it is not your business. There are such things: that here is my son, the way I want, I behave that way. Unfortunately, there are laws that we must follow. We are just making our work ”, says the specialist.

John remembers another story.

“A woman was lying near the rescue station, reading a book. Her 6-year-old son, who I remember now, named Aivar, was swimming alone in the sea. I took him by the hand and asked him where his parents were. Mom says that in the dunes, I say, can I go together? We went, we appeared.

The woman was wearing glasses and reading a book. I tell her: “Madam, according to the rules of the beach, there can be no children without the supervision of an adult …” I handed her a brochure and she made a loud complaint out loud: this is my daughter and I take care of her “Remember the lifeguard of the woman ‘s words.

“I say,‘ Madam, there is a distance of 120-130 meters from the dunes to where your son is. What could you do in an emergency? (…) Also, I say, your physical condition is not like that. “You are insulting me, am I probably too strong for you?” I said, I didn’t say anything, it would be difficult for me to run that distance myself. (…) I was very offended, she started to panic: what is your name, I will complain about you. She picked up the phone, called her husband from Vilnius and ended up like this, we received no complaints.

Maybe a week has passed. Her husband came, telling me, where do I find John Pirozhnik? I say I will. I want to talk to you very seriously. “Do you remember the time when there was a child, you took it out and gave it to your mother?” I mean, great, “says the man when we cross the Palanga Bridge.

“Tell me, give me five. I want to thank you. They say I let my wife take care of the boy, I gave him so much devil, almost before the divorce. Won’t you be mad if I give you a nice bottle of champagne, a box of candy? I’ll leave it to your team. And once again I want to thank you very much for that, “recalls Jonas.

As he approached the rescuers’ central station, the man recalled a third story that also turned unexpectedly. What, see the report (17:30).
