New procedure to announce discounts
According to the SCRPA, they receive annual reports of possible discount misapplication, non-application of discounts, lack of information on offers, etc.
During 2020, the SCRPA has received around 150 notifications regarding the application of discounts. In most cases, consumers reported a discount not applied, additional conditions, as well as reports of price discrepancies in the price list and at the checkout, ”said the specialist.
According to the Consumer Protection Law of the Republic of Lithuania, a fine of 500 to 5,000 euros can be imposed on merchants for non-compliance with the above provisions.

Speaking about the new procedure for advertising discounts, Ernestas Kačerauskas, Pigu’s marketing manager, said that his online store works in the same way as a supermarket, but as a seller, such a procedure will not change them.
“We do not base our sales strategy on discounts,” he said, but added that sellers acting on behalf of Pigu.lt in the e-shop were informed about the changes and urged to prepare for the new order.
