The virus, which has reached the farms, has been reported in Gemert, the same area in the southern Netherlands where outbreaks have been reported before.
“All tissues from 18 infected farms that were previously reported and today have been destroyed [tai padaryta] in two more farms, “said the Ministry of Health in a statement.

Tissue farming in the Netherlands is a controversial topic. In 2016, the country’s highest court ordered the closure of all tissue farms by 2024.
Last month, the country’s parliamentarians voted overwhelmingly in favor of closing the remaining tissue farms in the Netherlands by the end of this year. The government has indicated that it is preparing plans to encourage farmers to close such farms voluntarily.
