A total of three new phones have been introduced in the Mate series: the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro +.
“Every year, the Mate phone series brings together the most exciting technologies on the market in one place – that’s what defines its essence. In these unprecedented times, we remain committed to building a better future with innovative technologies that have a positive and significant impact on the lives of consumers. Going forward, we will continue to work closely with our partners to ensure the smooth operation of artificial intelligence for consumers around the world, ”said Richard Yu, CEO and CEO of Huawei. Consumer Business Group.
Design: familiar back shape and curved screen
The new Mate series phones feature the Space Ring design already seen by consumers: a futuristic-looking ring-shaped camera unit on the back of the phone, which was also installed on the Mate 30 series phones of the last year (although they were not delivered to the Lithuanian market).
According to the manufacturers, all new phones are based on the basic principle of the Mate series that form must perform a function, which is reflected in the design of the borderless screen of these phones. The flagships have an 88-degree tilt angle at the edges, which widens the screen and the image displayed outside of the phone.
The flagship case features improved IP 68 protection against dust and water. On the side edge of the devices, users will find both physical and virtual volume control buttons and improved protection against accidental button presses (bad touch prevention algorithms).
Filming: the phone is like a video studio
Today, when it comes to smartphone cameras, not only the quality of photos is important to consumers, but also the ability to create videos. That’s why phone makers are working to improve this area, and Huawei’s new flagships focus on it.
The phones feature the XD Fusion HDR feature, which provides high-quality, ultra-high-quality 4K movie recording and protects against unexpected “burn-in” images, when white light is so bright that nothing is visible in the frame. In addition, this technology, together with the well-known Steady Shot, helps to better stabilize the image and thus create high-quality videos.
Since today’s consumers create a lot of video content and want to share it as quickly as possible, Huawei has made it possible to conveniently process images on the phone. Users are introduced to the Story Creator feature, which adds cinematic effects to the image, and users can add additional music, video filters, and other effects.
Sound quality is no less important for filming, which is why Huawei has allowed users to use Bluetooth devices to record sound, and the camera has implemented Audio Focus and Audio Zoom technologies. The latter will allow you to brilliantly capture the sound emanating from where the lens is pointing. This way, you can be sure that the sound of the video you are shooting will be crisp and clear.
Photography: dual lenses on the back
Today, phone users are particularly interested in the capabilities of the camera. Huawei has already managed to surprise the market in this area, but the bill will continue to rise this year, continuing to work with well-known partners in the photography market – Leica.
The phones have a triple lens camera on the back, consisting of a prime, ultra-wide, and telephoto lens. But this year, the chances for all of them have gotten even better.
The wide-angle camera already features a second-generation Ultra-Wide Cine lens that, according to the manufacturer, is as powerful as the main one and provides an even wider image than before. Additionally, image quality is enhanced with Full Pixel Octa PD AutoFocus technology, which corrects for wide-angle image distortion on the face and body. Additionally, this lens is better suited to areas where light is sticking, so the wide angle lens can be used boldly in a wide variety of situations without fear of people looking unrealistic in photos.
The front camera area of The Ultra Vision Selfie is even smaller than before, but since then its quality has not deteriorated at all. It now supports 4K quality filming and users can shoot in one of three modes, from close-up to ultra-wide. In addition, the front camera will even have a slow motion function.
Processor – Capable for the 5G Era
The phones have a built-in Kirin 9000 chip, designed to withstand high 5G data loads, intensive computations and many tasks at once. According to the manufacturers, it is the smartest 5G generation processor on the market, surpassing its ancestors in power and efficiency.
Maker Photo / Kirin 9000 Chip Will Power New Mate 40 Series Phones
The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) on the new flagships is the most advanced of all the company’s phones. It enables devices to process high-quality graphics, providing users with a high-quality audiovisual experience and the ability to play high-definition games.
All this is complemented by a display with a video playback frequency of 90 Hz and a touch playback speed of 240 Hz, which ensures fast response to the movements and touches of users’ fingers. As a result, your phone will be especially convenient for gaming or surfing the web. This entertainment package is complemented by two stereo speakers on the new flagships, allowing you to comfortably watch movies and videos on your devices.
And to ensure your phone never runs out of battery, both flagships support SuperCharge ultra-fast charging technology.
Functionality: even more interactivity and security
The company continues to develop the previously introduced 1 + 8 + N ecosystem and strives to allow users to comfortably control multiple devices simultaneously. As a result, the new flagships will be able to control up to three applications at once and connect the phone to a computer at the same time.
The company’s EMUI operating system pays even more attention to security. It has been awarded the CC EAL5 + security certificate, which is considered the highest-level assessment for commercial security solutions. As a result, users will also find new features in the operating system, such as the ability to remove personal information, such as location, time, and device details, when sending photos. The notes on your phone will be encrypted and can be locked with a PIN or biometric lock.
Huawei has also introduced new devices that users around the world will be able to try out. For example, the Petal Search search engine, a map application adapted to the gesture functionality of the new flagships, Petal Maps, and the Huawei Docs document manager.
The manufacturer has also announced the prices of the devices: the Mate 40 “Simple” will cost 900 euros, the average representative of the flagship series will cost 1,200 euros, and the more expensive Mate 40 Pro + will cost 1,400 euros. The manufacturer did not provide information on the dates of the start of the trade (and whether that trade will take place in Lithuania). Foreign experts predicted that the supply of phones would be severely limited for several months due to the fact that US sanctions restricted Huawei’s access to the services of the only technologically compatible chip maker, TSMC, and therefore the number of chips available. it is quite limited.
