The National Center for Public Health (NVSC) recalls that it is recommended to refrain from unnecessary travel during quarantine, but if you decide to travel anyway, professionals advise you to do so responsibly.

When preparing to go abroad, you need to pay attention to two most important things: the requirements that apply in the country you are going to and the requirements that apply in Lithuania when you return from abroad, the NVSC report emphasizes.

Relevant information on the requirements applicable in other countries can be found on the websites of Lithuanian tourism organizers, but it is recommended to always consult the information on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic is constantly changing around the world. According to the information currently published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, people vaccinated against COVID-19 can travel to Denmark, Estonia, Montenegro, Cyprus, Croatia, Poland, Romania or Slovenia; they will not be isolated in these countries, nor will they be required to have a negative test result. In other countries, such as Turkey, you need to register on arrival to get a negative result.

The list of affected countries is changed weekly

It is also recommended to inquire about the requirements to meet when returning from abroad before traveling. This information is published on the NVSC website, where the list of affected countries is updated weekly and approved by the Minister of Health.

At present, almost every country in the world is included in the list of affected countries, but the requirements are divided into two groups: more stringent isolation requirements for some countries, milder isolation requirements for others, such as walking in the open air. without insulation, and others.
Argentina, Bahrain, Brazil, India, Cyprus, Costa Rica, Croatia, Maldives, Netherlands, Republic of South Africa, Seychelles, Sweden, and Uruguay are currently on the list of countries from which strengthened communicable disease control measures are being returned. .

The list of affected countries, which takes effect on Monday, is approved and published every Friday.

Isolation is mandatory for returnees, but there are exceptions.

All returning to Lithuania, regardless of the country they visited, must complete a passenger form and present the received confirmation (QR code) to the carrier before boarding the vehicle or, if traveling in their own vehicle, to NVSC specialists u other officials at the border control post or the passenger control office.

Unless you are exempt, a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or nasopharyngeal antigen test) is required upon arrival. Response to serologic antibody tests is not recognized. The COVID-19 test must be done at least 72 hours in advance. prior to arrival in Lithuania and a negative response has been received, which must be provided to the carrier prior to travel.

Those arriving from abroad are subject to 10 days of isolation, which can be shortened with a COVID-19 test (PCR) at your expense and a negative result no earlier than the seventh day of isolation. The NVSC notes that the list of affected countries also lists the isolation requirements and the cases in which and under what conditions the isolation site can be left.

If you have been vaccinated according to the vaccination schedule described in the vaccine description or have had COVID-19 and it has not been more than 180 days since the diagnosis was confirmed (positive test), you will not need to be isolated when you return from abroad.

NVSC specialists point out that when completing the mandatory passenger form, it is necessary to indicate if there is an isolation exception. If there are exceptions to conducting an investigation or isolation, supporting documents must be available and available upon request from NVSC specialists or officials conducting isolated person inspections.

Most import cases are among those returning from the UK.

NVSC specialists demand responsible preparation not only for trips abroad, but also for returning to Lithuania. As long as morbidity in the country remains high, it is mandatory to meet the approved requirements to prevent the spread of the disease: complete a passenger questionnaire, have a negative test result, and isolate.

Travelers are often asked why it is necessary to isolate themselves with a negative test result. As is well known, the incubation period for COVID-19 disease lasts 14 days, so even if a negative result is obtained, it is not possible to completely calm down when returning from abroad, as the risk of late onset of the illness. According to the NVSC, 466 such cases have been reported in the UK, Germany and Sweden since the beginning of this year.

Weekly between 13 and 37 cases of COVID-19 are registered. In recent weeks, a downward trend can be seen in these cases, according to a report from NVSC.
