This is the 21st century: a settlement in the Panevėžys district ran out of drinking water, only the wells of the neighbors save

Last week, Tiltagališkis received a message that the well field of the agricultural company Vaivad campo Meistrai in his village will now only supply technical water to consumers. It can only be used to wash, wash, bathe, give water, give water to animals, but it is not suitable for drinking or cooking.

Since the Soviet era, residents of the bridge who used the water from this water tower had long suspected that it was not very compatible with a healthy diet.

“I have been living in Tiltagali for fifteen years and I see that our people use this water for so long. The water site pipes are old, often brown, terrible water comes out of the cranes, sometimes it does not run at all, the Neighbors come to us from the well, ”says Laimutė Šutienė, president of the Tiltagaliai village community.

She herself does not use suspicious centrally supplied water. People, according to the president, sometimes even have fun repairing a well of collective exploitation. According to her, it has been seen more than once: when a pipe breaks, workers pull it out of the ground and mend the rubber of old tires.

“I am terrified how someone else drinks that water, it is really bad for their health,” the community leader worries.

Rescue wells

According to L. Šutienė, efforts to obtain quality drinking water have not moved for many years. A couple of years ago, the promises had already inspired the people of Tiltagali to live in a civilized way: to get clean and transparent drinking water, but in the end it all ended only in languages.

“Last time we discussed the need for residents to contribute to the construction of a new water supply. As a result, we did not object too much to the fact that only the settlement had good water. And even earlier, we had even agreed to allocate 500 LTL to each one for such plans. But so far nothing has been done “, says the president of the community.

A large part, according to her, is connected to the current water tower, which was handed over to private hands when the collective farms disintegrated. Now that it has been officially reported that consuming their water as food is risky, neighbors have started exploring each other’s wells.

We will use the wells, but there are not many, only where the old houses are. But for food production, the settlement needs large amounts of water, ”says L. Šutienė.

Does not meet the standards

Antanas Pocius, Deputy Mayor of Panevėžys District, confirmed that the water from the local water tower that had reached the houses in Tiltagališkis until now had been supplied illegally. The service of the well owners does not meet modern standards for water used for feeding.

“When supplying water for food and beverages, you have to meet the requirements. The water in this well is suitable for washing, washing, it is not deadly for food, after all, even if you drink from the ball, you will not poison yourself, “said the deputy mayor.

Rimas Samkus, Head of the Department of Construction and Infrastructure of the District Municipality of Panevėžys, clarified that the water of Tiltagaliai is not contaminated, only its supplier cannot prove its ownership and, at the same time, cannot obtain a license for such service, nor does it provide activity reports.

According to the representatives of the Municipality, there are so many owners of the tower of the collective farm that it would be difficult to implement the legal transfer of this object into the hands of the district. And this is exactly the way out of the situation that the Municipality sees.

“For now, we will have to draw water from the wells. This problem is old and we are trying to solve it,” said A. Pocius.

Negotiations with the owners of the well are, according to him, so far difficult. Another important issue is the funds for the disposal of said object. The report from the eldership, which has reached the community of Tiltagaliai, states that during the discussion of the district’s budget this year, the installation of a new well in a settlement with a water treatment station will be discussed.

“If we take over the current water tower, we will see how it needs to be improved, what is lacking for adequate water quality. This issue must be resolved by the end of this year ”, says the deputy mayor.

The municipality, which is obliged to provide drinking water to residents, has similar problems due to the old Mitriūnai well. These former collective farm towers also supply water to Vadoklia, Perekšlia and Miežiškės.

The contractor went bankrupt

Last year, the District Municipality bought a local water tower in Jotainiai. Now it is maintained and the water is supplied by the Velžio communal farm under the municipality.

However, difficulties were encountered in the construction of a new centralized water supply system in Ėriškiai and Paistryri and in May. Here, these types of projects are being carried out for the fourth year in a row, cities have been excavated, and construction contractors have gone bankrupt.

“We had irresponsible project contractors. Instead of realizing that he no longer had money to work and left, he was still late. For three years, two workers scratched something, and now we are forced to re-advertise a new tender, to look for new contractors, ”said A. Pocius angrily.

The municipality promises that within a year Ėriškiai, Paįstrys and Gegužinė will already have a centralized water supply. Such projects, according to district officials, cost millions of euros. But the main settlements in the district already have centralized water. It is jointly supplied in the Panevėžys district by 70 – 80 percent. population.

With a centralized sewage system, a little worse: it reaches 60 percent. yards.

It is no secret, according to A. Pocius, that centralized sewerage or water pipes will never reach some people; on the more remote individual farms, such accommodation is too expensive for the state.

Afternoon with investigations

Benjaminas Šliogeris, director of the Vaivadų meistrai agricultural company, which privatized the Tiltagaliai well field, assured Sekundei that the water in this tower was of high quality, as if the investigation had not been ordered in time.

“I am obliged to do water analysis every year, but this year I was short of money due to illness and I was late. The water is really clean and can be drunk when I can, I will investigate,” promised the well manager and added that these services already bore him.

According to the tower owner, supplying water to 120 users at the end of the bridge sometimes generates a small profit, sometimes a loss. B. Šliogeris claims that it has been trying to transfer this burden to the Panevėžys district municipality throughout the year.

“There are really a lot of tower owners, some of them are already dead. But there really is someone to pass it on to. “Perhaps the problem is in the currency negotiations: I want more than I want to make up for the deal,” says B. Schlioger.

How much you would like to get for an old well, its owner does not reveal.
