During the debate on the current course of vaccination, the Chancellor of the Ministry of Health, Jurgita Grebenkovienė, also provided the Health Affairs Committee of the Seimas with the latest data on adverse reactions to the vaccine.

“In terms of adverse reactions, we have 1,612 reports of suspected adverse reactions during the vaccination period. This is 11.37 percent. of the total number of vaccines. This is a good number, not different from other countries, “he said.

The highest number of adverse reactions was reported after the Pfizer vaccine, but the chancellor added that it is the longest received vaccine.

The second vaccine with the most side effects is AstraZeneca.

There have also been reports of tachycardia, arrhythmias, and facial paralysis lasting up to several hours.

Most reactions are recorded by the patients themselves.

When are damages awarded?

Regarding compensation for damages caused by vaccines, the Chancellor pointed out that she is reimbursed when the drugs are not used in accordance with the specified conditions.

‘However, no compensation will be granted when the medicinal products are used in accordance with the conditions set out in the summary of product characteristics and the disease or disorder is due to their pharmacological properties. In this case, the damage is compensated in accordance with the Civil Code and the Product Safety Law, if the injured party proves that the damage is caused, that the medicine is of inadequate quality and that there is a causal link between quality and loss ” said J. Grebenkovienė.
