There is no common strategy to close preschool schools: the message will thunder like thunder from the clear sky

Signs of concern include: Coronavirus has already been diagnosed in Lithuania in thirty children under the age of 9, such data is presented on a map compiled by the Records Center.

In late June, the coronavirus was detected in a minor who had contact with other children attending one of the Vilnius kindergartens “Karuselė”.

Last week in Kėdainiai, a two-year-old boy fell ill with coronavirus after attending the city’s “Pasaka” kindergarten. All persons who have come into contact with the child are in isolation. It turned out that the grandfather who was caring for the self-isolated child was also infected with the coronavirus.

Will follow the recommendations.

Kristina Cibulskytė, Head of the capital’s Preschool Education Department, assured that with the increase in the rates of infectivity due to coronavirus, the kindergartens of the Vilnius city municipality will follow the decisions made by the State Emergency Operations Center (VESOC) and will take into account the approved recommendations.

“All security measures are strictly observed even now. Such as: regular cleaning and ventilation of the facilities, isolation of groups, disinfectant liquid at the entrance, publication of information on the need to observe personal hygiene: hand hygiene, cough sneezing ”, he emphasized.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (ŠMSM) also assured that decisions about the work of educational institutions will depend on the epidemiological situation. Currently, preschool institutions organize children’s education.

“It is important to remember that June 16 is still valid for kindergartens. The requirements approved by the Minister of Health Aurelijus Veryga: follow the principle of group isolation to avoid contact between children who attend different groups, employees would work in a single group the same day, employees whose duties do not include working with children would have no contact with the children, “in response.

Take precautions

And those are not all the precautions you take: children must be fed in the group’s facilities. If such conditions do not exist and are eaten in the common room, only a group of children can eat in it at a time according to a pre-established schedule, and after each group, the room is ventilated and cleaned.

Buffet meals, where children make their own meals, are not organized.

If contact inquiries with educational support specialists are arranged, they should be provided individually or only with children in the same group at the same time.

Care should be taken to ensure that there are hand disinfection facilities near the entrances to the facilities, that appropriate conditions for the hygiene of the hands of staff and children are provided, and that educational facilities are ventilated before children arrive and at least twice a day.

Children who develop fever (37.3) who have signs of an acute upper respiratory infection, such as a runny nose, cough, or shortness of breath, should not enter kindergarten, and staff with such symptoms should not enter a place of education.

The editorial asked the government chancery what percentage of the morbidity needs to increase to make a decision on the threat of the coronavirus to close kindergartens. Or maybe nurseries will no longer be closed even when morbidity increases? Unfortunately, the representatives did not present the Government’s strategy, but advised to continue today’s Government meeting. During the meeting, ŠMSM will present preparations for the upcoming school year.

A comment from the Ministry of Health (SAM) will be added.
