There are six candidates in the contest for the leadership of the Public Health Laboratory

According to the ministry, the selection of candidates is scheduled for early September.

The contest was announced on August 11. Candidates were required to have a university degree or equivalent in the field of biomedical or social sciences, with at least three years of managerial experience.

The selection evaluates the knowledge of the candidates on the administration and financing of health institutions, the organization of labor relations and the principles of formation of an anti-corruption environment, legal acts related to health activities.

Candidates must be proficient in English at least B2 level, have a good knowledge of modern technologies, the operation of the eHealth system, and meet other requirements.

The health policy, legal, managerial, financial, personnel management, administrative and managerial competencies of the candidates will also be evaluated.

The competition for the position of director was announced a month ago after the death of the former head of the laboratory Vytautas Zimnickas.

Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting two pretrial investigations into organized laboratory rapid coronavirus testing and the purchase of reagents.

The National Public Health Laboratory performs laboratory tests related to public and personal health and the environment. Rosita Marija Balčienė is currently Acting Director.
