In a press release, Camelia Virgilija’s pharmacist Bečelytė told how to take proper care of her heart health so that problems do not occur and what to do if you are not feeling well.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting quarantine are changing the daily lives of many people in the country: we move less, eat more, and often sleep worse. That is why the heart is at stake, that is why we must pay special attention to it at this time.
First of all, the pharmacist V. Bečelytė advises, although currently in the quarantined country, we must follow the regime of movement: at home or safely outdoors, healthy eating, work and rest. If our schedule is harmonious, at least while we wake up in the open air, we move, the sleep will definitely be better. In this way we will thank the whole body, and especially the heart.

When to go to the doctor?
The pharmacist says that, although it is not frequent, there are cases in which a patient visiting a pharmacy and informing him about his ailments is strongly advised to consult a family doctor or even seek urgent medical attention.
“In all cases, we provide first aid to patients, but if there is pressure in the chest area, heaviness, shortness of breath, we recommend that you consult a doctor,” says V. Bečelytė.
Pharmacists can offer medicines, food supplements and consultations according to the patient’s ailments.
Blood pressure is measured more often
The pharmacy also has a free blood pressure test, the pharmacist will be sure to comment on the indicators and advise you on what to do.
Cardiovascular diseases
“We notice when more patients come to check their blood pressure during quarantine,” says the pharmacist, adding that not only older people but also younger people have been requesting these services more recently.
“Young people who work or study complain of difficulty in the heart area, dizziness and pain due to stress and tension. In this case, we first advise them to rest, sleep well, consume enough water, avoid stress, move around, stay outdoors, “says V. Bečelytė.
How to help the heart?
The pharmacist says that young people without serious problems are generally helped by natural remedies, quality rest and peace of mind. Older people who already have cardiovascular disease need constant care.
“These people must follow the instructions received so far by the family doctor or cardiologist, constantly use the prescribed drugs.
People who already suffer from cardiovascular diseases should measure their blood pressure every day, and in some cases even several times a day, and record it ”, advises V. Bečelytė and adds that a healthy diet should be followed daily, as long as as much as possible to do physical activity, avoid stress.
“Even if there is currently quarantine, visits to doctors can not be avoided if necessary. People with heart disease need to monitor their blood cholesterol levels and perform a blood clotting test,” emphasizes the pharmacist.
Prevention is essential
For many years, the leading cause of death in the Lithuanian population has been cardiovascular disease. Pharmacist V. Bečelytė believes that many people suffer from heart disease due to too late prevention.
“Preventive action (healthy eating, exercise, giving up bad habits, stress management) is necessary from an early age.
Unfortunately, the most common concern is your health when you already feel certain ailments, says the pharmacist. – Sometimes it can be too late to start caring at 40 or 50 years old, statistics show that even 30 year olds have a heart attack these days. So let’s take care of our health and that of others! “
