The National Public Health Center (NVSC) reports that 142 cases of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were confirmed in Lithuania last day. 12 of them in Klaipeda County.
According to the report, yesterday five cases were registered in one of the wards of the Republican Hospital Klaipėda. All individuals are physicians. Eight close contacts were identified and isolated at the hospital.
Zigmas Juzumas, deputy director of the hospital, told “Open Klaipeda” that all the patients were from the technical department that worked with the team and had no contact with the patients. Therefore, no rooms have been closed, patient services have not decreased as a result.
“There is no closed section, only isolated people. There is such an order according to the instructions of epidemiologists if there is contact, immediately isolate the people or a family member or non-member. We handle and do everything according to the instructions of epidemiologists, so we have to isolate people who are negative. They are all medical personnel, but not doctors, who work with instruments, devices. Other people work in your place. According to him, the coronavirus was probably brought to the hospital from the environment because none of the patients had gone abroad.

As other people in Klaipėda County have become infected, epidemiologists have not yet been able to identify or detail the cases.

NVSC reports that another case of death from coronavirus was recorded in Šiauliai county last day. This is the 102nd death in the country. The deceased belonged to the age group 70 to 79 years and had comorbidities.
A total of 5,625 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Lithuania, 2,842 people are still ill, 87 of them in Klaipeda and 2,660 have recovered.
According to the NVSC, over the past 14 days, there have been four more cases related to Palanga Lin in Klaipėda County, as well as the same number of cases related to SB Baltic. In Klaipėda, one person was diagnosed with a coronavirus infection and was associated with an outbreak at the Fencing Club in Vilnius, another with an outbreak at Šiauliai University, and another case from Klaipėda was associated with Plungė UAB Technoexport Storage.
