“You have come to the city of Tauragė and the” Meat Point “. And do you know why” Meat Point “? Because the city once had hundreds of meat points here, and according to the old Soviet logic, there were many points where it was possible to buy meat, we were the first to make a legal point where you can come and not hide, ”he says, just trusting us in Taurage near the store, Robert.

Upon entering the store, there are several customers, where you can find both meat products and everything, as the owner himself says, related to him: olives, various sauces and good wine.

“Our quantities (of sales) are not large, but we do everything with our own hands, each piece is prepared by ourselves, 90 percent. recipes, marinades, they are mine to invent and feel ”, presents Robert.

As he sits outside, he talks about having another store with his colleague in Klaipeda, and here in Taurage the store will soon celebrate its fifth birthday.

“Before being in Klaipeda (ed. Shopping), I had a lot of people who came here especially from Klaipeda to buy a more interesting product,” he says, explaining that his products are different and he can always explain where the meat was. sold, since the animal was raised.

“She is not only Lithuanian. To this day, we have Lithuanian beef dry-aged beef, and we still import fantastic beef from Uruguay. We import in large quantities and sell them wholesale, ”he says.

In general, according to him, the man did not enter the business unexpectedly, and had previously lived in Norway for some time, where he worked for one of the oil companies.

“It was my wife’s birthday, then STEAK SUPPLY store opened in Vilnius, it was the first serious meat shop in Lithuania. I bought this meat for my family’s celebration. <...>

<...> she was very good and smarter to do something. Then I opened a shop in Taurage while I was still in Norway. I planned the work in such a way that I worked in Norway for two weeks, in Taurage for two, ”he says about starting a business.

“I got a job for myself, I created it so that I could go back,” adds the man.

The first year, he said, was very difficult. A year later, when he returned to Lithuania, the situation did not change.

“My vision was that I expected to start earning and making a living from the store in the first year, but it didn’t.

I was able to learn to adapt to different customer needs, ”he says.

In his third year of operation, according to Robert, he had thoughts and forged shop windows and went back to work in Norway, but there was a turning point.

“Then I sat down and thought that I couldn’t do that, that this was the beginning, that people were not that tired yet and needed to do something,” he says.

“Suddenly, people have arisen, confidence in both their strength and faith in me has arisen,” recalls Robert, saying that now he has many orders and is at a breaking point again, only this time, in the good. sense, because he needs to expand, not only two stores, but also for the preparation of food for private celebrations and the supply of meat to restaurants.

Today, it is said that his clients have become his friends.

“They go to the butcher shop, not to the store, but to Robert. I don’t have a lot of traffic, but I chose a certain group of people. For me, the products are more expensive ”, he says openly and assures that his clients are people of medium and high income.

Robertas says that in addition to him, there are three more employees in Taurag y today and five more in Klaipėda.

It is true that you do not plan to expand to Vilnius yet, because there is a lot of everything there and you have to keep up with the changing fashions.

“Vilnius people usually shop where they are on the way home, so Vilnius is not an interesting place for us until we can make a boom. When we are mature, we will come to Vilnius,” thinks Robertas.

His immediate plans are to expand wholesale production, that is, the supply of meat to restaurants.

“Maybe even for other small stores”, mentions the businessman.
