The 2021 offseason in Greece was marked by a particularly intense retirement from veterans. The end of his career was announced by another representative of the older generation.

On the social network Facebook, hanging sneakers on the nail stated Kostas Kaimakoglou.

“It is time to say goodbye to basketball as an athlete. As far as I can remember, basketball has been my faithful companion, a pillar, a refuge, laughter and tears, dreams, pride. I traveled the world, met great personalities, highlighted my values ​​and was able to pursue my dreams, ”wrote the Greek.

The 38-year-old striker has chosen an unusual career: in 2012 he left Athens for Panathinaikos and settled in Russia, having spent almost a decade at the Unics club in Kazan. He became Euroleague champion in 2011 and marched to the European Cup final with Unics last season.

In the Euroleague, K. Kaimakoglou played a total of 85 games, during which he scored 6.5 points (36 percent from three points), 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

The leading Greeks, Vassilis Spanoulis, Ioannis Bourousis, Nikos Zisis and Stratos Perperoglou, also completed this offseason race.
