Linked to family business interests
When Labor leader Viktor Uspaskich began advertising “anticovidic water”, it became clear that the “healing water” campaign was in the business interests of the Uspaskich family.
For the prevention and treatment of the coronavirus, the politician chose Upas mineral water, which is produced by a company closely linked to the sons of the Labor Party Wizard. Karolina Štelmokaitė, a member of the Kėdainiai Municipal Council representing the Lithuanian Peasants and Greens Union, shared information about the producers of “anticovidic water” and their connections to the in-laws on Facebook.
Opinions differ in the party
Seimas member Antanas Guoga, a newcomer to the Labor Party, calls V. Uspaskich’s remarks deplorable and, urging “employees” not to be clumsy, proposes to call a party council meeting on this issue. At that time, other “workers” elected to the Seimas say that they do not see anything wrong with V. Uspaskich’s statements, therefore, I do not want individual explanations from the party president on the structures of political power.
The fact that V. Uspaskich’s public speeches are not in line with the values of the Labor Party and are intolerable, as it may harm Lithuania in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, has only been publicly debated by A. Guoga , who has recently become a “worker”.
“We just realized that we could all remain silent and pretend that nothing had happened. A great deal has taken place here, and I have stated my opinion that this should be discussed, and the party should unequivocally convene a council on this issue and give the president an opportunity to explain. We cannot be clumsy, “A. Guoga told Eltai.
“In my opinion, this (V. Uspaskich’s statements on healing water – ELTA) is a mistake, it cannot be done. I do not support that, I just said in my opinion that it is very bad that it is not suitable. I hope that the President retracts (words: ELTA), because it is dangerous for people to believe that they can receive the vaccine as advertised, ”said Guoga.

However, Guoga’s colleagues from the Labor Party are much more cautious about Uspaskich and the latter’s misleading information does not tend to be overstated.
Vigilijus Jukna, the eldest of the working faction in the Seimas, declared that he doubted whether this issue was worth explaining in the party organs. According to him, what was said by V. Uspaskich, the party leader, is not a personal matter of the Labor Party, but of V. Uspaskich himself.
“There is no doubt that there is a personal matter (V. Uspaskich – ELTA) here,” said Eluk V. Jukna.
“This is the president of the party, but in no way is it the party itself (opinion – ELTA),” he said, noting that he had no information that someone was going to convene a party council or a meeting of the “worker” faction. in the Seimas.
Another “employee”, one of the vice-presidents of the Seimas Andrius Mazuronis, reasoned in much the same way. Nor did he see anything inappropriate in Mr. Uspaskich’s speech, which was detrimental to the party or society.
“It seems to me that Uspaskich has made it clear that his political activities are one, and water activities or healthy lifestyle activities are another parallel line. It seems to me that they do not intersect, so it would not aggravate the situation. Then I would not see the need (to shout) neither from the council nor from the board. But it is one thing to speak live, not through the press. There is a little missing ”, said the politician.
