Alan Maguire, father of the Manchester United and England footballer, was injured when fans tried to break through Wembley Stadium and enter a match without tickets.
The player’s agent, Kenneth Shepherd, was also affected by the widespread incident, but the midfielder, who scored a goal in the quarter-finals against Ukraine, was glad that the situation was not even more tragic.
“It was definitely not a pleasant experience, my dad is still deeply shocked. But in one respect he was lucky: in all our national team matches that had taken place before, he held my nephew or one of my children on his shoulders.

I am thankful for fate that this time things were otherwise, because otherwise the incident could have ended much more tragically. Of course, it could have been much, much worse, but we need to make sure that similar things don’t happen again in the future. “

The 28-year-old footballer also revealed that his father still feels the effects of the injury and has difficulty breathing.
UEFA has already taken action on several incidents at Wembley Stadium during the final. Four of the charges are directly related to the game itself, during which elements thrown by the fans ran from the stands towards the players, and the match was briefly suspended by a fan who ran onto the pitch.
