Canceled flight to Lithuania without explanation.

Nerijus, who wanted to fly from Ireland through Lithuania to Lithuania, faced that problem.

March 1 A man purchased tickets from Ireland to Lithuania through the Skyscanner ticket search platform. As there was no direct flight to Lithuania, a tour of London was offered. The flight was due on Monday, June 8. from the Irish city of Cork to London with the low-cost airline Ryanair, and then from London Luton Airport with another airline, Wizz Air, to Vilnius.

Unfortunately, the flight was canceled for reasons incomprehensible to Neria. The man also assures that he is not aware that he will compensate the loss suffered.

“I received an email Thursday morning. A letter stating that the Wizz Air flight was canceled. Of course, with no explanation why. My first flight to London with Ryanair also makes no sense.

Most importantly, the flight was canceled Thursday morning, but Wednesday at about 8 p.m. In Lithuanian times, tickets were still sold through Skyscanner. When I wrote on his Facebook account, the tickets mysteriously disappeared, “says Nerijus.

The man adds that the same situation happened to his friend: after buying a ticket for a flight from Spain to Lithuania, it was also canceled last week.

“As it was also a trip with several airlines in various countries, all the other tickets were lost. As far as I know they are not even going to fly, instead they sold tickets, then offered coupons for future trips and yet of course the most expensive ones so the difference in coupon amount will have to be covered. Complete disorder, arbitrariness and deception of the people “, the interlocutor was indignant.

The man said Tuesday that he was in Dublin waiting for his next flight through the Netherlands with Ryanair and airBaltic. Nerijus hopes that at least these flights are not canceled by anyone.

Wizz Air: 30-day money back

Wizz Air explained that the passenger flight from London Luton Airport to Vilnius was canceled due to coronavirus restrictions.

“When airlines cancel a flight, the passenger receives an automatic refund of 120%. Amounts paid to their Wizz Air account, and the passenger can choose 100%. Refund: the money is returned to the bank card or transferred to the bank account, “says the company’s comment.

In this case, the passenger allegedly received a 120% refund. paid into his Wizz Air account, and he chose a refund. The actual amount of the refund will be paid by the airline within 30 days.

Narkevičius: airlines behave unethically

In late May, Transport and Communications Minister Jaroslav Narkevičius said that some airlines selling tickets for flights for which they have not received a permit from the Lithuanian government are behaving unethically, BNS wrote.

“We know this information, many citizens have contacted us that they have already bought tickets, and we supposedly do not allow these flights to take place.” I think airlines don’t behave ethically here much, because you must first get a permit and then sell tickets, ”J. Narkevičius told LRT radio earlier.

According to him, the representatives of the airlines affirm that in this way they seek to find out the need for such flights and only then request permission to operate them.

“We try to make sure through our specialists not to mislead people, because people plan their expectations and time, and then, due to the pandemic situation, the permit cannot be issued,” said the minister.

Tickets for flights to London, for example, are sold on their websites by Wizz Air and Ryanair.

Aviation expert: companies do not seek to mislead passengers

Simonas Bartkus, marketing manager for Swiss aviation data collection and analysis company Ch-Aviation, evaluated the situation negatively, but said he also believes it is due to the difficult situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“I don’t think it’s a deliberate desire to mislead passengers or anything like that, I don’t think airlines are used to and adapted to the fact that in these unexpected times there are different procedures, separate permits are needed in different countries,” said Bartkus .

According to him, it is not yet clear how long the power order will last for flights to require a permit.

“The airlines are also not prohibited from selling those tickets. They could probably be sold in August or September, as that situation is likely to change and we will return to the previous order when those permits are no longer needed. There is so much uncertainty that September seems possible, so the ask if it would be possible by June, ”said S. Bartkus.
