The STT arrested the wife of Vidmantas Kanopa, a member of the Seimas elected in Rokiškis

The Special Investigation Service (STT) arrested Daiva Kanopienė, director of the Šeškinė polyclinic, and Narimantas Markevičius, head of the Vilnius Clinical Hospital, due to possible corruption in public procurement in the health sector, BNS confirmed. Rokiškio Sirena tried to reach Seimas member Vidmantas Kanopa, but his phone was turned off.

The STT announces that it is investigating possible crimes in “public procurement of medical equipment and other medical devices from different health institutions.”

Both the Vilnius Clinical Hospital and its shareholder, the capital city, state that they still have no information about the manager’s arrest.

“We have no official information yet,” Vilnius spokesman Karolis Vaitkevičius told BNS.

“I can say that he was not at work and I don’t know anything about the arrest,” said Vaidas Kukarėnas, advisor to the director of the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital.

The SNB could not be reached at the Šeškinė Polyclinic.

The STT does not provide information on the detainees, the service intends to provide more information on the pre-trial investigation during a short press conference on Thursday. Your time and place are promised to be announced later.

The pre-trial investigation is directed and organized by a group of prosecutors from the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Directorate of the Attorney General’s Office and the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the District Attorney’s Office.

Info TV was the first to report on the arrest of D. Kanopienė and N. Markevičius. According to them, the head of the Limeta medical equipment company was also arrested.

According to publicly available data, this company is run by Virginijus Domarkas.

Rokiškio Sirena recalls that Daiva Kanopienė, the director of the Šeškinė polyclinic, was chosen last year in the contest for directors of health institutions, Manual of the year-2019.
