Over the weekend, there were many stories about how illegal dog kennels were found in various places in Lithuania, where the animals were kept in terrible conditions.

It all started on Friday, when the police and the staff of the “Nuaras” animal care house discovered a woman who had pets in terrible conditions.

Social media has spread even further to the illegal kennels that have been discovered, and people outraged by the inefficiency of services are already on the second day they meet at the Širvintos kennel, where a local farmer keeps dogs and other animals.

Over the weekend, the State Food and Veterinary Service launched investigations into animal husbandry conditions in the Kretinga, Širvintos and Tauragė districts.

I already received requests for help

Kristina Klinienė, project manager for the Kika pet store chain, says the company is already finalizing an action plan to help animals affected by poor conditions.

They need special care because they are neglected

“We have been very surprised by the situation in recent days,” 15 minutes K. Klinienė said.

According to her, Kika is in contact with seven shelters that have received poorly cared for animals.

The oldest of them is Nuaras, who has cared for 58 animals.

“They need special care because they are neglected, neither sterilized nor prevented,” said a Kikos spokeswoman.

The chain of stores has received lists from the organizations mentioned with the need for tools and agrees to donate the necessary items.

“For example, one organization provided a list that they needed medium-sized collars, strong straps, blending measurements.

Others who have adopted bitches who will soon have children or who have already been taken are asking for disposable leashes and milk mixes, ”said K. Klinienė.

According to her, Kika encourages residents to contribute as well: Retail stores have been asked to inform customers about the possibility of donating items needed for shelters.

The retail chain Lidl also promises to help Nuar.

“Taking into account the request for help from Nuaro distributed on Sunday, we decided to contribute immediately to the help of the animals; in the near future we will issue Nuaras Lietuva gift cards, for which it will be possible to buy both dog food and other products for the care of animals. Currently we are also evaluating the possibilities of helping other institutions that have received animals “, said Valdas Stop, representative of the network.

Others will contribute

The Maxima retail chain also promises to help animals kept in difficult conditions.
