Darius Žakaitis, the creator of the Tech Loft project, said the success of the Vilnius Technology Park startup center had led to a new project.
Tech Loft’s idea is that creative and tech startups are looking for different spaces, not just Class A offices, where they feel less comfortable due to the expensive and attractive environment. Looking for a new place, we focus on Naujamiestis, because it is interesting and it is growing, ”he said Tuesday.
Will set up starters
The total area of the business center, where the new companies will be located, will reach 2.2 thousand. kv. m, and the investment in the project will reach 2.5 million. € Reconstruction work started in early autumn 2019 and the opening is scheduled for August 1.
It is planned to install more than 200 jobs, which will be rented to new companies. There will be a cooperation space, a 70-seat conference center and a cafeteria on the ground floor, and private offices in the rest.
“Young companies that develop technological or creative businesses. Who works with technology, a concept based on the Internet. Traditional companies are not our audience, “said D. Zakaitis, who will be able to settle in the business center.

According to D. Zakaitis, an agreement has already been signed and this will be the location for the electronic money launch “Connect pay”.

In response to today’s realities, according to D. Zakaitis, it is planned to replace part of the table tops with stainless steel, install partitions, UV lamps, manual disinfectors. In his opinion, such premises will continue to be necessary, but visits to them may decrease.
“We will install partitions for the tables, we will adjust the distances a little. But people need socialization, they need to be together, it has not disappeared and the need will continue to exist,” he is convinced.
Will save the building
The Startup Center will be located in a building built in 1952 that previously housed a warehouse. According to D. Zakaitis, the building has not been used for a long time, and the reconstruction aims to preserve as many authentic details as possible. The A2sm architects studio is working on this project.
“This environment is very important, old elements are preserved, ceilings, walls, columns, lintels add value and create a creative atmosphere. We will also use restored antique furniture from Lithuanian designers, and we have also purchased and preserved the Žalgiris Stadium display board, which will also find its place here, ”he said.

According to D. Zakaitis, the company purchased the Žalgiris Stadium display board approximately 1.5 years ago, but it had to be rebuilt.
“It needs to be adapted and renewed, because its condition is not the best. Now we are working with an advertising production agency to personalize the billboard and make it work. It has symbolic value,” he explained.
The idea of buying a billboard, according to the creator of the creation center, came from the architects. Initially, they wanted to adapt it in Vilnius Tech Park, but the city authorities did not like the place they offered.
“So we came up with the idea of applying it to this project. In three years, a lot has changed before buying it, and the original concept has changed,” said D. Žakaitis.
