The situation is getting worse: if the solutions do not change, we will register very serious health problems in a few months.

Doctors spoke about these issues at a meeting of the National Union-Lithuania (TS-LKD) Christian Democrats faction on Tuesday morning.

Some instructions contradict others

Živilė Gudlevičienė, the leader of the Lithuanian Medical Movement, spoke about the great chaos at the faction meeting.

“First of all, what’s the chaos going on? Working in cycles reduces the availability of services, which is one of the key aspects. If we don’t allow doctors to work in a second workplace or in another, we recommend that we do, you certainly will not receive patient services at your other workplaces. “Regional hospitals are affected, and the private sector is also affected,” he said.

“It just caught our attention then. (…) It was said that the employee will not be able to sign or rewrite contracts, but some hospitals, the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, the Vilnius Republican University Hospital, the Klaipeda University Hospital They tell us that these are the orders of the director. It is very clear that work in other institutions is practically prohibited. This is interpreted not as a recommendation by the Minister, but as a prohibition, “said the head of the medical union.

Ž. Gudlevičienė said he did not understand how he could comply with other instructions with this recommendation: see a family doctor within 7 days, see a specialist, within a month.

“It is completely impossible to do,” he said.

The head of the medical movement said the queues at the specialists are already arriving even in November.

Doctors also have complaints about wages.

“Perhaps when we spoke to the ministry before, when we were invited to sign the declaration, (…) our first question was: who will compensate them for their share of the salary? (…) Everything was said very well that they would receive those wages, their wages would not suffer, it did not happen. All regulation has gone to bans. “Gudlevičienė.

According to Ž. Gudlevičienė, the doctors lost a lot of income: the doctors who worked in the departments of COVID-19, who isolated themselves after contact with the patient, received significantly less supplements than expected when working in dangerous conditions.

“Those 100 percent. Disability allowances for work certificates are not paid, since there are such allowances, (…) if an occupational disease has been diagnosed, if COVID-19 has been detected. It enters self-isolation, followed of the COVID-19 test. We should be glad that he has not been diagnosed, that he has not gotten sick, that he is not infected, but that there is not automatically a 100% inability to pay for the job. He automatically goes to a lower income Most of the medical staff suffered the loss of part of their income, “Ž. Gudlevičienė. As a result, stated the medical representative, it is necessary to restore the provision of services.

She said that if a doctor is not approved for the coronavirus, he does not receive a pay raise.

“As soon as services need to be returned and restored, this can be done safely, on a scale similar to pre-coronavirus queues, and patient dissatisfaction increases in hours rather than days. And the other question is, Is this a reform of COVID-19? ”He asked.

Time will open up huge health problems.

Valdas Pečeliūnas, president of the Union of Physicians of Santara Clinics, predicted at the TS-LKD meeting that if precautionary measures are continued responsibly, even if there is a second wave of coronavirus, it will not be overwhelming.

V. Pečeliūnas explained why this decision caused so much confusion.

“Despite the pandemic, despite many problems, one theme prevails in the medical community: the order of the operations manager for work cycles. It is not even clear what to call it, as a recommendation. It was that vagueness that caused a lot of confusion People are not talking about patients, but about what has become a serious problem: cycling.

Why did this decision cause so much confusion? It is no secret that most Lithuanian doctors work in various institutions, the coordination of schedules and work is typical for everyone. They made it possible to guarantee the quantity and quality of the services provided to patients, ”said V. Pečeliūnas at the meeting of the TS-LKD faction.

He argued that this recommendation is understood differently by different institutions, making it impossible to harmonize schedules.

“This restricts the right of physicians to work … the second: it definitely works and will have an even stronger impact on patients’ rights in the future as it will restrict access to services,” said the President of the Union of Physicians of Santara Clinics.

V. Pečeliūnas stated that in the coming months, major health problems of the patient will be noticed.

“In 1-2 months, not only will there be complaints about inconvenience, but patients’ health problems will start to get very serious,” he predicted.

“I see patients who are distracted, do not receive the necessary services, do not know when their doctor will work, they suffer. Many people use pain medication due to chronic problems.” V. Pečeliūnas mentioned the problems.

“It just caught our eye then. There have been wage increases, (…) but in reality, in these circumstances, when people cannot work, their wages and incomes have decreased significantly. Although, formally speaking, they should have increased but after this confusion, the income is significantly lower, “he said.

The areas are very uncomfortable.

Vaidotas Grigas, director of Molėtai Hospital, spoke about the impact of these decisions on healthcare facilities in small cities.

“The employee is in a situation where he has to take 2 weeks off per month, which is unrealistic, or quit that job,” said the director of the Molėtai Hospital.

“All of these requirements were not coordinated with the organizations, they just came up in the form of an order that we must follow,” Grig said Tuesday morning.

“The situation in the districts is difficult. That planned work is very difficult to accomplish,” V. Grigas said remotely at the TS-LKD faction meeting.

Recognizing that even the simplest communication with the heads of medical institutions was lacking.
