The members of The Roop say they wrote a song full of nostalgic sound, thinking about dance and inner liberation. These two elements perfectly describe all the group’s works: their unique sound and style.

The song was released by Warner Music Group, one of the world’s largest record companies, with a division in the Baltics, according to a press release.

On Fire has demonstrated the power with which music and dance affect people. This combination liberates. There is no man who does not know how to dance, he is innate. Dancing is also a tool that heals wounds. Even nodding is already a dance, – says Vaidotas Valiukevičius, the leader of The Roop, with a smile.

At Discoteque we are talking about inner liberation. We often say that we are free and we live in a free world. But we have most of the limitations within us. So with this song and movement, we want to shake the fear of all those inside, who have too much criticism of themselves, to look strange. Sometimes we don’t want to accept our body, we even compete with our attractiveness. “

The uniqueness of the song is also revealed by the somewhat unusual lead line of the melody. It is reminiscent of the old Lithuanian folk songs. “We made the appendix of the work staccato so if we change it to legato, the reason for the traditional songs would be very clear. We have adapted the sound of folk music to modern taste “, – V. Valiukevičius talks about the structure of the song.

Listening to the piece, listeners will notice that Discoteque not only has a light side, but also a dark side. The dark sound of the song not only gives it depth but also brings it closer to the listeners.

“It just came to our knowledge then. If you don’t see your shadow, it means you don’t stand in the light,” says Vaidotas.

Lauras Lučiūnas, producer of The Roop, says that the still green version of Discoteque became a promising piece in Helsinki when The Roop recorded songs in the studios of the Finnish division of Warner Music Group: “When we fly, we first think about the recordings of other songs. This piece was the coolest. But after the recordings of the first day, we sat down to discuss them and Vaidotas showed the Disco.

The decision to participate in the Eurovision national team has not yet been made. But that night, it became clear that we had a song worth presenting to listeners. His first recordings took place in Helsinki and the final result has already been achieved in Lithuania. “

The original music video for the Eurovision song “Discoteque” was also filmed in Vilnius. Its director became film director Saulius Baradinskas. This was the first joint work of the group and the director.

Saul’s name is heard at film festivals and video awards, and laurel’s latest short film Golden Minutes intrigues the director’s work with Scottish actor Billy Boyd, known for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The Roop says the Discoteque video is like a return to childhood. In it, the viewer moves to the eighties and nineties. Allusions from the movie “Alice in Wonderland”, the “Twin Peace” series come to life on screen.

“The whole clip permeates the stylistics and mood of that time. Starting with the visuals, the clothes, the colors and ending with the movements that come from our childhood. We remember the first haircuts, how we danced alone at home when no one could see. We even borrowed a movement from Arvydas Sabonis: it is his legendary duck gesture, which we all remember, “reveals V. Valiukevičius.

Discoteque can be purchased and listened to on all music listening platforms.

The Roop will present the new single live on January 23 at LRT’s national Eurovision Song Contest. The group has secured a spot in the qualifying final on February 6.
