The reconstruction of the Sventoji seaport begins – contract signed Business

The reconstruction of the Sventoji seaport is important not only for the residents of the resort, local and foreign guests, but also for the tourism business, boating enthusiasts and, of course, coastal fishermen. It is from the creation of the infrastructure for them that the reconstruction of the port begins. During the consultations with the fishermen, it was discussed about what important infrastructure should appear in the port of Sventoji. The main needs of coastal fishermen have been clarified during these discussions.

With the signing of the contract, the contractors committed to repair and expand the pier in a year and a half (by September 2022, to install a ramp to help fishermen lower their boats into the water, as well as a winch to unload their catches, fishing equipment, boats.- Construction of a building for fishing boats, fishing gear and catches.

To ensure convenient access, the Prieplaukos street leading to the port of Sventoji will be rebuilt during the project. There will also be much-needed parking for coastal fishermen, who will be able to park about 50 vehicles at a time. It will allow fishermen to store not only their cars but also their trailers comfortably and safely.

After the implementation of this construction stage of the Sventoji seaport, not only will all the necessary infrastructure for fishermen be installed, but the territory of the port will also be cleaned and seeded.

The mayor of the city of Palanga, Šarūnas Vaitkus, highlighted that the construction of the port of Šventoji is a very important project, which is also included in the plan of measures for the implementation of the provisions of the Government Program.. “I am pleased that the initiative of the municipality of the city of Palanga to rebuild the port of Sventoji has the support of the Government, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture. Currently, coastal fishermen do not have the opportunity to access comfortably out to sea and lower their boats into the water. The next stage of waiting for the reconstruction of the Sventoji seaport is the construction of docks. We hope that funds will be found for these necessary works, otherwise, the construction of the port would no longer make sense.
