In total, the quarantine regime is currently in effect in about a third of the 21 municipalities in the country.

According to a government decision on Monday, the people who live in them must wear masks in all public places with rare exceptions.

Masks should not be worn only outside residential areas when there are no people other than family members within a 20 meter radius.

In municipalities where quarantine has been introduced, it is forbidden to congregate more than 5 people, institutions must work partially or totally remotely, the flow of customers and buyers in shops is restricted, patients over 14 years of age are prohibited, except mothers, as well as residents of social care institutions. It is recommended to abandon mass religious rites in meetings.

Also, on Wednesday, the government plans to ban events and gatherings in Lithuania.

If approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, spectators would no longer be admitted to professional sports matches. These bans would go into effect on Friday.

Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga mentioned that it is planned to leave the exception only for high-level sports competitions, but that they should take place without spectators.

According to the minister’s proposal, the ban would not apply to cultural events for which tickets are sold electronically, with access control and a distance of two meters between spectators.
