No pens – used charcoal

The protesters wrote on the cardboard plates: “Cold is a killer”, “Water and salt are not suitable medicine for colds; please give us better treatment”, “Lithuania, get us out of this forest”. We are human beings, not animals “,” EU, please save us “.

The notes were written in Arabic and English. The men did not have pens, but used charcoal.

Gathered together, they chanted the word “Freedom.”

Requires better health care

15 minutes contacted Muhammad, an Iraqi living in the Rūdninkai camp. The man said the migrants protested against an inadequate healthcare system and poor housing conditions.

According to him, the doctors come to the camp once a week.

If a person wants to visit a doctor, they have to queue live at the container where the doctors work.

Several residents said that sometimes a visitor has to wait several hours.

The cutting wire being built infuriated the migrants

During the protest, the men also expressed their dissatisfaction with the ban on leaving the camp.

According to Iraqi Max, migrants feel like criminals. These sentiments were reinforced by an additional cut wire that was being built behind the camp fence.

The Strategic Communication Division of the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) stated that a peaceful protest of migrants crossing the border illegally took place in the Rūdninkai camp.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the main requirement for men is to be released.

There were no incidents during the protest.

The Rūdninkai landfill camp is currently the largest migrant accommodation center in Lithuania.

About 700 men live here.
