The proposed restrictions do not see any major problems: they will affect only a third of the population

Linas Slušnys, a member of the Seimas Health Affairs Committee, noted in the Žinių radijo program “Dienos informacija” that the behavior of the population has already changed, as the number of vaccinated people has increased at times in recent days.

At the same time, he stressed that there will be no restrictions for people who get vaccinated.

“If we take the numbers, it’s more than 50 percent. They are vaccinated, 20 percent. – We have only a third (or at least) of adults who have not been vaccinated. It means that only a third of people will not be able to move to nowhere, “said L. Slušnys.

According to him, such decisions are aimed at preventing the disruption of the health system.

“Because when we are hospitalized with combat patients, we not only cover resuscitations, we no longer provide other services,” said L. Slušnys.

The MP also defended the decision to stop testing the Opportunity Passport for taxpayer money. In his opinion, this is a luxury.

“This action on our part says that we are abandoning fancy tests because we have more effective long-term tools that work much better, namely vaccines. (…) If a person is stubborn and believes in some told theories, it is his will, but he has to pay for the luxury ”, taught L. Slušnys.

Claims the proposals are unconstitutional

Vytautas Sinica, vice president of the National Association, criticizes the restriction of the rights of those who have not been vaccinated. Although he admitted that he is an advocate for vaccination himself.

“Translating the rest of the unvaccinated with measures such as those now proposed by the government is completely unacceptable because it is unconstitutional,” Sinica explained.

According to him, the issue of health care in this regard is particularly sensitive.

“Because in the Constitution, the right to health is absolute, and the duty to ensure that it belongs to the State, not to the individual. In other words, it cannot depend on how healthy we live and the decisions we make, ”said Sinica.

The solution has advantages and disadvantages.

Sigismund Mauricas, chief economist at Luminor Bank, said the government’s decisions had advantages and disadvantages.

“The downside is the additional cost and potential increased shade, and some increased mistrust. If we take these measures seriously, it will mean that people will have to walk with an identity document all the time, and also with the Passport of Opportunities ”, Ž said. Mauricas.

According to the economist, the advantage of this system would be that it would increase the number of vaccinated and thus reduce the burden on the health system.

“The current data reduces the risk of hospitalization tenfold. This is a considerable size,” said Ž. Mauricas.

Activities without the Passport of Opportunities would be severely restricted

The government is giving more than a month to get vaccinated against the coronavirus and, as of September 13, opportunities for people without a passport would be severely restricted, BNS wrote.

“Contact services and entertainment could be provided only for people who meet the criteria of the opportunity passport,” Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys presented the proposals during the government meeting on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposals in principle by means of a protocol decision, and the adoption of the resolution is expected in the near future. Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said the next government meeting “will probably take place on Monday.”

The draft resolution stipulates that people who have not been vaccinated or have not been infected with the coronavirus without a negative PCR test will be able to buy only in small stores, near large supermarkets, beauty salons, catering establishments, entertainment places and events.
It would also establish that people without immunity and who have not taken the test will not be able to use both urban and interurban public transport.

A. Dulkys pointed out that another important change is that to obtain a passport of opportunity, an antigen test would no longer be appropriate, just as to obtain it, the free test would be abolished, unless a person cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons. reasons.
