“Unfortunately, this time the covid-19 test is positive. We have to radically redesign the work plans and re-close the house. “My colleagues in the group have received negative responses, but I am joining the ranks of the sick,” he writes.

V. Čmilytė-Nielsen states that he does not feel the symptoms of the disease.

“I know there will be different opinions on my work this week. I acted as recommended by the Seimas Chancellery: in all meetings I was wearing a mask, I kept my distance, I avoided shaking hands. I adhered to maximum security. I worked because today we can see the situation very well in Parliament. There are still many unanswered questions ”, writes the president of Seimas on Facebook.

“I think that if it weren’t for this, a lot will be covered next week and we will be able to participate in other creative activities. Tomorrow I will report in more detail on the measures taken, which I believe, if not removed, will at least significantly reduce tensions in the relations with the opposition ”, he adds.

On Thursday morning, Eugenijus Gentvilas, the largest of the Liberal Movement faction, confirmed to Delfi that his party partner Viktoras Pranckietis had also been infected.

The coronavirus was also confirmed to John Varkalis, a member of the Liberal Movement, on Tuesday morning this week. Then there was a discussion that a live session of the Seimas should not be held, but the Seimas Board decided otherwise.

J. Varkalys received a positive test result for coronavirus on Monday night. He attended both the swearing-in ceremony for the new Seimas and the Seimas session last Friday.

J. Varkalys sat next to conservative Jonas Gudauskas and faction colleague Ričardas Juška that long Friday night. Before J. Varkalis, the conservative Vytautas Kernagis, the liberals Raimondas Lopata and Arminas Lydeka worked in the Chamber of the Seimas. New Seimas spokesperson Viktorija Čmilytė – Nielsen was also seated nearby.

A former member of the Seimas, liberal Gintaras Vaičekauskas, was also diagnosed with coronavirus on Wednesday. The MP suspected that she had hired her colleague Rimante Šalaševičiūtė, who claimed to be healthy.

Liberals in Parliament took COVID-19 tests on Wednesday to attend Thursday’s sessions. “It just came to our notice then. We plan to participate in the Seimas sessions tomorrow. I look forward to receiving answers tomorrow. Perhaps that will be the end of the story,” said E. Gentvilas, the largest of the Liberal Movement faction, at the SNB.

E. Gentvilas told BNS that he had reviewed the Ministry of Health’s recommendations regarding self-isolation and was convinced that he did not need to be isolated. After all, he hadn’t seen G. Vaičekauskas for a week. “It has been more than three days since my contact to feel your symptoms. I don’t fall into the circle that needs to be isolated, ”said the old liberal.
