V. Staniulis contributed to the organization of the Book Festival dedicated to the Press, Language and Book Recovery Day, started the contests for the “Best Prepared and Published Bibliographic Publication”. V. Staniulis was awarded the 2nd degree Santaka Medal for his merits to Kaunas and Lithuanian culture.
The President expresses his deepest condolences to the family, colleagues and the entire community of readers of V. Staniulis, reports the Presidency.
The famous bibliophile and collector V. Staniulis died in Kaunas on Saturday at the age of 71.
V. Staniulis was born in 1950. May 13 In Kiaulupiai, Sintautai parish. In 1968 he graduated from Sintautai High School. He organized more than 20 exhibitions (Lithuanian counterfacts, Lithuanian calendars, 450 for the catechism of M. Mažvydas, 600 years of Lithuanian schools, ban on the press 1864-1904, Aušra Road and others).
In 1994, V. Staniulis opened his antique bookstore in Kaunas. Collected and published books: Yearbook of the XXVII Book Amateur Society (with others, 3 volumes 2004), “Mujeres o Cherchez la Femme” (2007), “History of the Lithuanian language”, “K. Donelaitis Metai ”(1918 facsimile publication),“ Diagnosis: bibliophilia ”(with others), album“ Interwar families ”(all 2008),“ Museum, cultural values, man ”(with M. Puodžiukaitiene, 2009),“ Country in Lithuania called ”(with others, 2014).
V. Staniulis was one of the main promoters of the restoration of the XXVII Book Amateur Society. This society was re-established in 1993. Since 1994, it has contributed to the Book Festival for the Recovery of the Press, Language and Book Day.
