In Lithuania, 1983 cases of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were confirmed. 562 of them were registered in Vilna, 448 in Kaunas, 211 in Klaipėda, 167 in Šiauliai, 147 in Alytus and Panevėžys, 94 in Telšiai, 81 in Marijampolė, 57 in Utena and 55 in Tauragė. 14 cases have not yet been assigned to any region of the country due to lack of information. The regions to which these cases should be assigned will be clarified after the epidemiological survey.

Of the positive 1983 test results obtained on the last day, 934 entered the system in the afternoon and evening. During NVSC working hours 1,049 positive tests were obtained, of which 981 were epidemiologically diagnosed and the rest are performed today.

The NVSC reports that information was received from medical institutions last day about 17 deaths from coronavirus, people had comorbidities. Currently, the infection has claimed 374 lives.

There were 7 deaths in Kaunas County. The individuals belonged to the age groups 40-49, 70-79, and 80-89.

There were 3 deaths in Klaipeda County. The individuals belonged to the age groups 50-59, 70-79 and 80-89.

3 deaths were recorded in Vilnius county. The individuals belonged to the age groups 50-59, 80-89.

In Tauragė County there were 2 deaths. The individuals belonged to the age groups of 70 to 79 and 80 to 89 years.

2 deaths were recorded in Telšiai county. The individuals belonged to the age groups 40-49 and 80-89.

In addition, 8 deaths were recorded yesterday (2 cases each in Klaipėda, Vilnius and Šiauliai counties and 1 each in Kaunas and Telšiai counties), when those infected with the coronavirus died from other causes.

Public health professionals urge people to follow all measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection: hand hygiene, coughing, sneeze etiquette, use of personal protective equipment, physical distance and more.

Residents are encouraged to wash their hands with soap and water as often as possible, use disinfectants, and follow the cough and sneeze etiquette. It is very important to take care of environmental hygiene, the frequent ventilation of the premises, the daily cleaning of the surfaces used both in the home and at work.

In case of acute signs of upper respiratory infection, it is necessary to stay home and consult the Coronavirus Hotline (tel. 1808) or contact your family doctor for a consultation. When visiting shops, pharmacies, markets, other open and closed public places, it is advisable to keep a safe distance of at least 2 meters from other people.

After close contact with COVID-19, isolation at home or elsewhere is required for 14 days after the last day of exposure. The isolation rules must be strictly adhered to throughout the isolation period.

In public, avoid direct contact with people with whom you don’t normally interact, and avoid mass gatherings if possible. It is advisable to give priority to activities in open spaces.

When organizing a large personal celebration, it is recommended to postpone it if possible. Otherwise, it is advisable to limit the number of participants to ensure that the participants do not show any signs of respiratory infection. Participants are asked to respect coughing and sneezing etiquette, hand hygiene, and safe distance.

Travelers are advised to postpone unnecessary local and international travel. In preparation for the trip, it is advisable to assess the epidemic situation of the COVID-19 disease (coronavirus infection) in a particular country, the need for the trip and the risk of a possible quarantine (isolation) when returning to Lithuania. During the trip, it is recommended to avoid contact with sick people, observe hygiene, consume safe food and water.

It is not necessary to wear the mask when exercising in sports clubs and when visiting leisure and amusement parks, when it is not possible to provide the service while wearing the mask. People with disabilities who cannot use them due to their health or whose use may be detrimental to a person’s health cannot wear face masks.

Masks should be worn so that they completely cover the mouth and nose. When using the mask, it is important not to touch it with your hands, and when touching or removing it, it is necessary to wash your hands. Disposable masks should not be reused, discarded after use.
