The New Zealand Federation has decided to donate selections to the Tokyo Olympics due to the large number of events and the cost involved. It has been officially announced that the country will not participate in the 5×5 and 3×3 basketball playoffs.
The Zeelanders reportedly consulted with experienced basketball players and a players association, and that decision was made when deciding to invest in a new long-term cycle: the FIBA Asian Cup.
These championships open the way for teams to the World Cup and from there to 2024. Olympic Games.
New Zealand will be replaced by the Philippines in the Belgrade Olympic team as the second best team in the Asia-Oceania ranking after Zealand.
Who will take their place in the trio’s selection will be announced shortly.
Philippines Belgrade June 29 – July 4 in the selection to be made in Group A against the Dominican Republic and Serbia.
