The new Minister of Health will also face the dilemma of medical salaries: it did not increase as much as planned, and also

As of April of this year, the average salary for doctors should reach 3,250 euros. Both the Santara and Kaunas clinics were above average, but IMI did not.

According to data from SAM in April-July of this year, the average salary of doctors in the first medical institution is 3,444 euros, in the Kaunas clinics 3,987 euros and in NVI – 3,043 euros.

I imagine the doctors in Santariškė are suffering.

“What most caught our attention was the difference that the median salary between the Kaunas clinics and the Santara clinics is almost 500 euros. <...> Since the money is really absorbed and the number of its employees is the same, and when there is such a difference, I certainly imagine that it is painful for the Santariškės doctors, ”said L. Labanauskas.

The head of the Doctors’ Union also said that he had approached President G. Nausėda requesting that this issue be raised in talks with a possible new Minister of Health. L. Labanauskas also points out that he intends to raise this problem in the Seimas as well.

The new member of the Seimas Jurgita Sejonienė doubts that it is necessary. According to her, the wage inequalities reflect the different financial capacities of hospitals. In addition, according to the former doctor of the Santara clinics, the agreement was signed by the unions and the ministry, so they must strive to implement the agreement.

“Apparently the Santara clinics are a less financially capable hospital compared to the Kaunas clinics. The situation is different with IMI, as it is not a public body but a budget and money routes, and the conditions under which staff salaries are regulated are different.

The branch agreement stipulates that if there are specific funds, they must be allocated for that purpose. The task of the Lithuanian Medical Association, as one of the unions that has signed the branch agreement, would be to control how this distribution of money is carried out in the institutions. I think it will really be a task for the new Minister of Health to implement a more benevolent and obedient plan. [susitarimo], and how to regulate these financial flows ”, says the former vice president of the Medical Movement.
