According to Health Minister Arūnas Dulkis, vaccination priorities were violated.
“Taking into account the information published in the public sphere, the Minister pointed out that the COVID-19 vaccination priorities, established by order of the Minister, have been violated,” Aistė Šuksta, Advisor to the Minister, told BNS.
“Ministry specialists are tasked with collecting all public information about the possible rape at the Žalgiris clinic, as well as being asked to explain why the decision to vaccinate the media was made and provide other related information,” added.
A. Dulkys also sends a message to doctors at other medical institutions: similar cases will not be tolerated in the future.
The minister wishes to draw attention to the fact that a state of emergency and quarantine has been declared in the country. Vytautė Pečiulienė, director of the Žalgiris Clinic, told BNS that the teachers have been vaccinated because they have been working with patients and students since February 1; they are temporarily employed according to the usual procedure, since the VU Institute of Dentistry is the clinical base of the institution.
The director also confirmed that Laura Linkevičienė, the daughter of MEP Juozas Olekas, who told BNS that she works at the clinic, was among those vaccinated.
Her husband Tomas Linkevičius, who works with her at a private dental clinic, as well as Vytenis Almonaitis, who also has a private office at the Žalgiris Clinic, and Professor Irena Balčiūnienė, retired former director of the Institute of Dentistry, also received the vaccine.
According to V. Pečiulienė, these teachers would not have been vaccinated if the institution had not received a sufficient amount of vaccine.
