“The mass vaccination will start in May, there will still be returns to other groups, so if it was 70 percent in September, that would be great. But again, a lot depends on it: both the number of vaccines and how the population will be vaccinated, although the survey shows that many people should be vaccinated, ”J. Grebenkovienė told BNS on Friday.

According to the Foreign Minister, who is in charge of coordinating vaccination in the country, the fight is expected to reach more than 320,000 in total. Pfizer: Doses of BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines.

“We don’t have the schedules for the second quarter of the month yet, because they end in March, but if we talk about the total figures for the second quarter, we should get 2.1 million during this time. Doses,” explained J. Grebenkovienė.

Currently, vaccination is carried out in primary health care centers, polyclinics and other places designated by the municipalities. There are a total of 74 vaccination centers of this type in the country.

According to her, with the introduction of greater quantities of the vaccine, the municipalities would establish more vaccination centers, so far it is expected that there will be at least 129 of them, and it is planned to carry out about 30 thousand daily vaccinations throughout the country . country. injections.

“We have provided possible preliminary amounts for each municipality, when there will be many of those vaccines, they self-assessed, they have measured how much infrastructure people need to be able to vaccinate that amount per day,” said J Grebenkovienė.

However, the Chancellor stressed that the number of vaccination centers could be increased if necessary, and vaccinations could be carried out on weekends.

According to her, the municipalities are in charge of vaccination, so in each city, the specific procedure of how this process is carried out and where to request the vaccine is determined by them, and the ministry simply provides general guidelines. The latter are currently being updated.

Reports of vaccine irregularities are isolated

According to J. Grebenkovienė, vaccination of the elderly is currently gaining momentum. So far, about four percent have been vaccinated with one dose, and about two percent of all people over the age of 80 with both doses, while about 150,000. about 90 percent of people in this age group have not had COVID-19 or received the vaccine.

In addition, he said, vaccination of priority groups against the elderly should be completed in the near future. For example, about 50 percent of doctors are currently vaccinated and another 16 percent are infected with this infectious disease.

“Vaccines continue to be given to employees of various polyclinics and medical centers that do not work with covids (…) Vaccines related to nursing and care, with patients at higher risk, pharmacies, are basically completed. “Patients with cancer diseases were vaccinated last week, they will continue to be vaccinated this week and will be vaccinated next week,” said the chancellor.

According to her, the number of people with immunity in priority groups who complete vaccination is close to 70 percent.

According to J. Grebenkovienė, information is also received from municipalities and medical institutions about reconsidered people who initially refused to be vaccinated and now want to do so.

Among other things, he said that possible vaccination violations are rare: the Ministry of Health receives individual reports.

“There has been a strong response to those first cases of violations of the vaccination procedure, and now there is some fear of looking closely at what is on the lists,” explained the foreign minister of the ministry.

At the end of January, the Special Investigation Service (STT) warned that a black market for vaccines could form in Lithuania, so it is necessary to constantly monitor certain data that may indicate the existence of such a market.

According to the head of STT Žydrūnas Bartkus, knowing how many doses of vaccines have been distributed to health institutions, the three components must coincide: how many people have been vaccinated, how many doses have been left in the institutions and how many have been lost. .

According to J. Grebenkovienė, there is no suspicion that such a market is currently forming.

“We see how many vaccines have been sent, how many have been used. (…) We see both by municipalities and by institutions. It is not possible to hide something here, ”said the Chancellor.

In Lithuania, according to data on Friday, the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was administered to a total of 113 thousand people. 208 people, both doses – 63 thousand. 281 people.
