The decision on the matter was signed by the minister on Friday and entered into force.
On December 11, A.Veryga instructed the directors of municipal administrations:
- appoint a municipal vaccination coordinator, that is, a municipal doctor or other administrative employee, who would coordinate the vaccination process in the municipality, as well as in the organizing institutions of personal health care (ASPI), guarantee a fluid vaccination of people belonging to priority groups, cooperate with the Ministry of Health;
- name one (or several) ASPIs that organize vaccination in the territory of the municipality (or several municipalities), which would guarantee a fluent vaccination of the people belonging to the priority groups, it could be possible within 120 hours. From the delivery of the vaccine, vaccinate the municipal population belonging to the priority groups with the full use of at least 1 package of 975 doses of COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) vaccines, in collaboration with other vaccination administrators designated by the municipality and with service providers.

The priority groups to be vaccinated against COVD-19 are:
- patients of personal health care institutions providing nursing and supportive care services and residents of inpatient social care institutions;
- employees of personal health care institutions providing nursing and supportive treatment services and employees of social service institutions;
- very high risk health system workers. The functions and tasks are related to the possible exposure to aerosols infected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus (procedures that generate aerosols in patients with COVID-19, such as tracheal intubation, non-invasive pulmonary ventilation, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, spirometry, autopsy , autopsy). patients with the disease in small, poorly ventilated rooms, etc.);
- high-risk healthcare workers. The functions and tasks performed are associated with a high probability of contact with people diagnosed or suspected of having COVID-19 (for example, transportation of people included in the list, their care, dental services).
- medium risk health workers. The functions and tasks performed involve frequent and / or close contact with the general public, but do not require contact with people suspected or suspected of having COVID-19, including workplaces where it is difficult to maintain a safe distance. contacts with other staff (eg, inpatient and outpatient contact services for patients without signs of communicable diseases, medical rehabilitation);
- low-risk healthcare workers. The functions and tasks performed require minimal professional contact with colleagues, working away from other staff and providing remote healthcare services, including pharmacy staff;
- people over 65 years of age;
- people with chronic diseases.
Health system employees are understood to be all employees of personal health institutions and public health institutions, regardless of their profession or obligations.
Data on people with chronic diseases will be provided by the Ministry of Health for the municipalities.
Lithuania has decided to purchase COVID-19 vaccines from six companies: AstraZeneca, Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, Sanofi and GSK, BioNTech and Pfizer, CureVac and Moderna.
Enough vaccines are planned to be purchased to vaccinate 70% of the country’s population, but due to existing agreements and efforts to reduce risks, much more will be purchased than is needed by the general population.
Unused vaccines will be available for sale or donation to third parties.
