The mayors of Raseiniai and Radviliškis say they see no point in announcing the quarantine in the districts

“We spoke with the minister, he named in what areas and how it would affect him. Today we are already in distance education, events are closed, fortune telling is limited, masks are mandatory. As for discos, as well as catering establishments, when the Minister mentioned that the work of the discos should be limited to a certain time, they have not worked with us for so long. Another thing is that there are no nightclubs, there is no casino, ”Raseiniai Mayor Andrius Bautronis told BNS.

According to him, the restrictions also do not make sense in public transport, since the buses run half empty when there is no contact between teachers and students and “they can maintain distances not three meters but also three meters.” The mayor also doubts that the government will make decisions to restrict the movement of district residents to other regions.

“It no longer makes sense because there is nothing left to consider. After all, we cannot ban private companies from operating, stop companies. Even with the introduction of non-local quarantine, we will not stop companies. There is nothing to prevent the government’s decision to accept such things, ”he said.

According to the mayor, the possible restrictions will be discussed on Tuesday in the municipal Emergency Commission.

“Tomorrow we will discuss it in the emergency commission, we are still waiting for the minister to send those areas that would be affected by the local quarantine, but it will not help because we have done so. Who needs to move the population even more than it is already angry? What will we achieve with the word “local quarantine”? There will be nothing, ”said the head of the Raseiniai district municipality.

The mayor of Radviliškis district, Antanas Čepononis, also claims that the municipality has already introduced the strictest restrictions and claims that it does not know what the government could propose to tighten more.

“Events are limited, schools run remotely, buses run even more than during quarantine. I don’t know what else to offer, if you offer something smart, how to manage it, if you suggest what we don’t understand yet (and professionals work, I think you really understand), we will definitely agree. But if you only offer the offer, thanks for Shiva“The mayor told BNS.”

Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga declared on Monday that on Wednesday the government would consider introducing stricter measures in the municipalities of the Raseiniai and Radviliškis districts. According to the minister, this is done when the number of infections in the Raseiniai district rises to almost 1,100 thousand inhabitants, and in the Radviliškis district it is approaching 500.
