New records of COVID-19 were reported this week, but there are those who complain that they cannot take the test despite experiencing specific symptoms of COVID-19. And not because they are not allowed to do such research, but because they do not have their own car.

I’m not sure how to get there

“My brother is experiencing coronavirus symptoms and would like to get tested. As we learned today (Tuesday – ed.), If you don’t have a car (you don’t have one), there is nowhere to check, no one accepts it. Could it be Is this true? How can people who do not have a car check if they are infected with the virus? “Said Renata, who currently lives abroad, about her brother’s situation.

He said that the response in this case should be urgent, but he called the different authorities for five hours and did not hear any possible solution.

My brother is experiencing coronavirus symptoms and would like to get tested. As we learned, if you don’t have a machine, there is nowhere to check, no one accepts.

“I don’t see how that can be. While living abroad, I have not heard such an approach that it could happen in a European Union country, in this case Lithuania, that there is nowhere to check without a car. We also called to private laboratories, it turns out that it is possible to have a test for a fee of 80 euros, but if they have symptoms, they do not accept ”, – complained Renata.

Information varies

The Ministry of Health (SAM), which prepared the comment for two days, stated: “People can travel to the mobile investigation point, request transportation from friends or family and use the services of taxi companies / carriers. The only prohibition is to go to the point by public transport. “

However, on the SAM page, which summarizes information for the public about the coronavirus, the mobile point section still indicates that if you experience specific symptoms of COVID-19, you should call the hotline at 1808. The counselor who speaks will you ask the patient if the latter can use a personal vehicle. or be brought by someone else) to get to the moving point.

There is only one prohibition: go to the point by public transport.

“For those people who will not be able to go to the mobile points themselves, the municipalities are obliged to provide transport services for patients. It is important that it is not possible to take a taxi by car or public transport to the Mobile Point ”, it is written on the SAM website.

However, the Vilnius municipality denies this, although the shuttle service to the mobile checkpoints has been operating for some time in the spring, it is not done now.

According to the municipality, the new wording of the current order from the Ministry of Health does not provide for the municipality’s obligation to transport people to mobile checkpoints. It is said that people should call the “Hotline” tel. 1808 and the consultants working there must explain all the procedures.
