The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has divided teams into baskets in the selection for the 2023 World Cup. Priority will take place in three countries: Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia.
A total of 32 European teams will face the world elite. They were divided into eight baskets of four teams each. Only 12 national teams will win a ticket to the World Cup.
The Lithuanian men’s basketball team entered the second basket along with the national teams of Italy, Greece and Germany.
Lithuanian competitors are known to be teams from the third, sixth and seventh basket.
The teams that participate in the selection will be divided into eight groups of four teams each. The first team in the group will secure a place at the world championships. Meanwhile, the runners-up will still have chances and fights in the last four passes.
The spells will be raffled on August 31. 1 pm Lithuanian time.
First basket: Spain, Slovenia, France, Serbia. Second basket: Italy, Lithuania, Greece, Germany. Third basket: Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Turkey. Fourth basket: Croatia, Montenegro, Latvia, Ukraine. Fifth basket: Finland, Georgia, Belgium, Hungary. Sixth basket: Great Britain, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Holland. Seventh basket: Iceland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Belarus. Eighth basket: North Macedonia, Sweden, Portugal, Slovakia.
