On Tuesday, the Department of Health (SAM) reported eleven new deaths from coronavirus. Among them is the youngest victim since the start of the pandemic, whose life was extinguished at the LSMU Kaunas Hospital.

According to sources from the portal, the deceased is a man.

Saulius Tvirbutas, the chief communication specialist at LSMU Kaunas Hospital, told reporters on the portal that the deceased was in his early 30s. “He also had comorbidities,” said S. Tvirbutas.

At a press conference at the Department of Health (SAM) on Tuesday afternoon, specialists were unable to provide further information about the deceased. “I have no authority to provide information about this person. This information can only be provided by relatives or by a medical institution with the consent of relatives. I can only say that the person had chronic diseases and belonged to the risk group due to these diseases chronic, ”said Daiva Razmuvienė, an epidemiologist at the National Center for Public Health (NVSC).

The situation at LSMU remains tense

According to communication specialist S. Tvirbutas, the situation at LSMU Kaunas Hospital remains tense: about 140 patients with COVID-19 are treated here.

Part of therapeutic services were suspended at the LSMU Kaunas Hospital, which has one of the largest flows of COVID-19 patients in the country. “We also have subdivisions in the center – Laisvės al. 17, as well as Hipodromo str. 13. All services are provided there, both planned and urgent. We also provide outpatient services: venereal skin diseases and obstetric diseases,” reported S. Tvirbutas.

According to the hospital representative, many volunteers responded to the request of the LSMU Kaunas clinics for help from the doctors. “The volunteers are fine. They replace the nursing assistants who come to work for us in another unit. But the number of patients continues to grow. The situation continues to be difficult, “said a hospital spokesman.

According to S. Tvirbutas, there is no rush to refer volunteers to the Department of Infectious Diseases; complex job specifications apply here. “They go to other departments, from where specialists come to help us in the Department of Infectious Diseases; this department has specific complex tasks,” the communication specialist told reporters.

In the last day, 1109 new cases of the COVID-19 disease were confirmed in Lithuania, eleven people died from coronavirus, the National Center for Public Health reported on Tuesday.

Four people died from other causes. Since the start of the pandemic, COVID-19 has infected 26,000 people in the country. 841 people, 20 thousand. 584 – still ill, 5962 – recovered. A total of 221 people died from coronavirus in Lithuania and 74 people from other causes.

There are currently 49,000 in isolation. 271 people. As of June 1, 430 import cases had been registered in Lithuania.

12 thousand were examined on the last day. 762 samples for suspected coronavirus. So far a total of 1 million have been investigated. 119 thousand 422 samples.
