The Liberal Movement intends to seek three positions in the Government: the adviser to the mayor of Kaunas, Simon Kairis, will be nominated for the ministers of Economy and Innovation, and Simon Gentvilas, vice president of the party, will not be revealed to the minister of Environmental Protection. .

Added: It will seek to reduce VAT and GPM.

Among other things, liberal leader Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen will be nominated for the position of Spokesperson for the Seimas.

“The first priority is the position of the president of Seimas,” S. Gentvilas told a news conference on Monday.

“First of all, by the Minister of Economy, this is Simon Kairys, he was appointed before the elections, he is also the rapporteur for our cultural policy. Today little is said about the Ministry of Culture, but it is a person who could run for both positions, “said the politician.

According to him, the field of education requires a large amount of funding to carry out long-term reforms.

“We cannot enter the Ministry of Education as smaller partners without the Conservatives behind us,” said the politician, Gentville said.

“I am already nominated for the shadow position of Environment Minister in the second election, … it is natural for me to run for the position,” he added.

VAT and GPM must be reduced

The vice president of the Liberal Movement said that tax rates temporarily raised during the previous crisis should return to previous levels. Gentville says the value added tax (VAT) could be lowered, just as the personal income tax (PIT) and a polluted car registration tax could be revised.

“Since 2008 in a crisis in which we could not borrow, nominal rates were concentrated and did not fall, despite being labeled as temporary. We take the position that temporary taxes should return to nominal rates,” Gentville said in a Press conference.

“The VAT gap in Lithuania is 24%, almost one billion.” One of the answers is to reduce VAT, the liberals are constantly defending and we provide it every year during the budget presentation, “he said.

PVP rate in 2009 increased from 18% to 19% in January and to 21% in September of the same year.

Lowering the GPM, Gentville said, should address long-term unemployment in the regions.

“We have announced that we will reduce the GPM by a nominal 1.25 percent each year and reduce it to 15% at the end of the term. In this way, we will get people to work, solve the problems of long-term chronic work disability. duration in the regions and it will be worth working, ”said the vice president of the Liberal Party.

However, Gentville explained that the taxes would be sustainable: “The taxes will be sustainable, they will not change, and if they do, they will be discussed with the public and once in a period.”

Gentville also believes that the polluting car tax should be reviewed because it is flawed. “If your grandfather or an older person uses a polluting car just a few times a year and suddenly you can’t even sell it because it’s too expensive, then this tax needs to be reviewed,” Gentville said.

“When it comes to tax policy, we will be in favor of tax cuts, except we have to start talking about pollution taxes that can be avoided by doing the right thing, living sustainably and we have to encourage people to adopt greener lives, “he said.
