The largest Lithuanian art gallery opened its doors: the first audience invited to see 300 works

The invited public was the first to see the works of 60 Lithuanian artists, listen to live music and watch a film about the works of the authors of the exhibition in their workshops.

After a long period of moderation, the Art Compensa artistic event will be a real treat for visitors who long for live encounters with creators and their works. And for artists, this is a great opportunity to present their work again to the Lithuanian people.

2.5 thousand kv. meters of concert hall turned into a great artist’s workshop. Beginning and recognized authors, stylish classics, and artistic experiments will also be found here.

There are no requirements for forms of expression, themes or genres, so viewers will see the connection between traditional and contemporary art.

In the first exhibition of the gallery 60 works are exhibited. The organizers visited the artists’ studios, symbolically opened their doors and selected more than 300 works.

Ignas Kazakevičius, director and curator of Art Compensa, believes in the success of the next event. “The long-standing project aims to change the attitude of society towards the accessibility of art. It is gratifying that representatives of business and art have come together for this purpose. I believe that the event will start an exceptional series of encounters between artists, their fans and buyers of works of art ”, hopes I. Kazakevičius.

The main partner of the project is the Union of Artists of Lithuania (LDS). Its president is prof. Eglė Ganda Bogdanienė claims that the new art space is intriguing with new opportunities, the event format, and the promised live gathering.

“Not a single representative of the art world has dramatically experienced the isolation of artistic events, nor has he even become indifferent towards them. People yearn for real and honest communication, a direct sense of the atmosphere of art; after all, not everything can be experienced on a monitor ”, EGBogdanienė is convinced.

The initiators of this artistic event believe that it will bring together talented Lithuanian creators and give visitors the opportunity to meet the authors in person and purchase masterpieces at an attractive price.

The most curious viewers will be greeted by publishing and design islands, excursions and arts education. Ansis Burkė, painter and professor at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, will explain and show how a work of art appears in 20 minutes.

Artist Evaldas Mikalauskis will help get involved in the graphic creation process and will be awarded a limited edition graphic print from the original clichés from the graphic collection of guest artists.

The main exhibition of the Art Compensos collection will last for 2 months, and the thematic exhibitions of the selected authors will complement the existing collection throughout the year.
