Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, who participated in the inauguration of the plant, said that the project implemented by the VMG Group is important not only for the region, but also for the entire country.

“Lithuanian investors can create jobs and high value-added products,” said the prime minister.

Akmenė District Mayor Vitalijus Mitrofanovas noted that the record investments of the VMG group are already giving a big boost to the economic and social life of the district. According to him, most of the factory’s employees are local, other companies are being established alongside it and the property market is recovering.

According to S. Paulauskas, the uniqueness of the new VMG Group plant on a European scale is created by the production capacity and the characteristics of the products produced.

The plant will offer the market an extremely thin particle board, just 3 millimeters thick. The technologies for this project were developed by the German innovation company Siempelkamp, ​​which installed its equipment in Akmenė. It is planned to produce around 600 thousand. cubic meters of production. The production capacity is expected to increase further in the future.

The construction of the new plant was started by the VMG Group in August 2018.

During the implementation of the project, the infrastructure and its connections with the main arteries of the country were also developed in the territory of the Akmenė Free Economic Zone: a railway branch was built and a regional road network was developed. According to the company, this will allow effective use of the geographic advantages of the region.

Currently, next to the first factory in Akmenė, there is already a second – a cabinet furniture factory, in which about 60 million. euros. It is scheduled to go online next year.

VMG Group is one of the largest wood processing and furniture production groups in the Baltic States, linking 16 Lithuanian and foreign companies with more than 4,000 employees. workers.
