The Kaziukas fair is not disappearing anywhere – this year you change your clothes and meet everyone safely online. And it will last not a few days, but the whole year. The fair will begin on March 4.
The origins of the Kaziukas Fair date back to the 17th century and it is believed that the centennial annual event did not take place only during World War II. This year, plans for the biggest spring break have been altered due to a global pandemic.
“It is obvious that the Kaziukas fair planned for March in Vilnius will definitely not take place. In January, we considered the possibility of postponing the event to April, but seeing the situation and, first of all, thinking about the safety of the people, we decided not to organize a fair in Vilnius Old Town this year. Regardless of the relaxation of quarantine restrictions in April-May, the possibility of safely organizing a celebration attracting hundreds of thousands of people is practically impossible. ” said the vice mayor of Vilnius, Edita Tamošiūnaitė.
The Vilnius City Municipality, together with the organizers of the Kaziukas fair, invites everyone to visit the virtual fair of Lithuanian artisans and creators at www.craftson.lt from March 4 at 2 pm
According to Renaldas Gražys, one of the promoters of this project, Craftson.lt will be a place where creators of creative works and talented producers can present their products, full of warmth, heart and good emotions, throughout the year. “Probably, for many participants of the traditional Kaziukas fair, who create traditional artisan products, it is a great challenge to create and manage their electronic store, and for the visitor, to discover these talents. I believe that this platform will help to combine creativity and mastery. , the tradition and the opportunities of today to easily acquire and, more importantly, safely, something original, beautiful and special ”, said R. Gražys.
