According to Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga, Lithuania is trying to take every possible opportunity to help combat this new, insidious virus.

“To this end, we not only take a wide range of non-traditional measures and solutions within the country, but we also try to get involved in international projects as much as possible.” “Participation in clinical trials of recently developed drugs with the help of doctors, scientists and the participation of patients in our country is no exception,” says Minister A.Veryga.

According to Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius, the Lithuanian Embassy in Japan has been conducting intensive diplomatic negotiations since the end of March, as 80 countries request drugs and want to participate in the investigation.

“All diplomatic procedures have already been completed, all that remains is to receive drugs in Lithuania. It is gratifying that our doctors join the forty other countries in the world that are already participating in clinical trials of the drug. At the same time, this is another example of special relations between Lithuania and Japan, “says Minister L. Linkevičius.

Experimental clinical trials of this drug in Lithuania will be carried out by doctors from Lithuanian medical institutions. Up to 100 patients would be delivered to our country for clinical trials of this drug. If Lithuania does not use all the drugs received for clinical trials now (as the number of patients decreases as the epidemiological situation improves), they can be stored for a certain period of time and used later in case of new outbreaks.
